A Rediscovered work by Antonello da Messina This long hidden away in a private collection in the South of France, this panel by the Sicilian master is nothing short of a miracle. A fragment of a gonfalon the work was painted in Sicily c. 1476-77. t.ly/Nvehk free

A long time ago I found this #silver medieval #coin while #metaldetecting. I couldn’t identify it on the spot and ended up trading it in the field for a Roman denarius from another detectorist. Now I keep wondering… what was it actually? 🤔 Any guesses what this coin could have been?

Last March, a person who now wishes to remain anonymous submitted a photograph of a small, framed drawing of a foot to Christie’s online “Request an Auction Estimate” portal. Just under a year later—and after months of authentication research—the work, newly identified as an authentic drawing by Michelangelo, sold for $27.2 million on a $1.5 million–$2 million estimate. @JMORENONYS Big loss, especially if you add cost for restoration. Was the frame part of the 23 offer? I guess that’s the game. Can’t be always Rubens, Van Dyck….
