@tes The need to build relationships with families is key to this, they understandably want the best for their children. Being open and transparent with parents/carers can mean that these 'snowplough' parents can be used as an opportunity to improve engagement overall.

Why are we so transfixed on doing so many interventions in the EYs. If we put more effort into reflecting on making our EYFS more centred around the child we wouldn’t need interventions. We just need to focus on what the children need in the NOW. Play, Love, Empathy & Joy

It's a busy day for news and significant changes across the country, and we have our own huge news to share with you. We're celebrating after being awarded National Lottery funding to support our work with those affected by H.I.E. 🥳 This is the first time we have been awarded multi-year funding which will cover costs for our project "Peeps Together - Connecting our Community" over the next 3 years. We will use the money to increase our offering and support available to families, in particular running more face to face events (our Peeps Together sessions), based on feedback from families wanting to be able to connect in person and on a local level. Keep an eye out as we'll soon be advertising two new paid positions within the Peeps' team! The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK. We are so thankful to them for their support and look forward to sharing updates with you. @TNLComFund #NationalLottery

People with no experience of epilepsy often think it's 'just' seizures. We know that's not true. Our latest project aims to raise awareness of what epilepsy is really like and teach them all about the various struggles people with epilepsy face. 💜

The education system shouldn't be asking, "How do we reduce exclusions?" It should be asking, "How do we support kids with complex SEMH needs effectively AND inclusively... without reducing standards?" #semh #standards #inclusion #exclusion

Had a dream that I became a history alevel teacher and don’t think it’s a bad shout. Can primary teachers move to secondary with no further qualification?

This is no April Fool - H.I.E. Awareness Day is this Thursday, 4th April. Can you help spread the word? A tag and a share doesn’t cost a penny and takes seconds, and might just help reach someone touched by #HIE who could benefit from a little extra support. 🌻 #HeardOfHIE #HIEAwarenessDay

Please share this where you can with your networks. As a parent, terminology can be confusing (even more so considering everything else that’s going on!). Having a clear understanding is important and can help with quicker/easier access to the right support @DEFiNE_NE

Are you the parent of a baby who was diagnosed with Neonatal Encephalopathy? Please consider taking part in our survey looking to standardize terminology in this area tinyurl.com/DefineDelphiSu…@BetsyPilon @PeepsHie @HopeforHIE

So a friend I was talking to who was considering going into teacher training (and who undoubtedly would make a great teacher) has now been put off because of 4 or 5 ‘horror stories’ they’ve heard from people… 😤 Let’s counterbalance that. Why SHOULD someone get into teaching??

Can’t believe I ever used to shout at kids, am embarrassed at the thought. The trauma-informed, relational approach has taken us years to do properly but school’s such a better place for it. You really have to believe in it & persevere but, goodness me, does it work. #PaulDix
