University of Gloucestershire Simulation
Fantastic different kind of #sim today with a simulation of the cardiovascular system for new nursing associate students. One student said afterwards ‘for those with a neuro diverse brain, thank you!’. Really helped embed A&P. Great work team! ⁦@ClareNursing#funwithflags

@oliverdevine Nursing associates are educated to level 5 - FdSc degree level. A BSc level 5 is the same assessment level as an FdSc level 5. NAs are registrants and regulated the same way as nurses and midwives. It is a valuable profession.

After a stressful period of uncertainty, I’d like to share some exciting news! I have accepted a new job offer, and will be a Clinical Lead & Nurse Manager for a wonderful Nursing home. I’m feeling hopeful that I can make a real difference in social care through this big change.

@parthaskar I don't understand why there will be a teacher shortage as a result of this. The apprenticeship levy will pay for the apprenticeships - it's just a different route to the same programme.

@ClareNursing So why not reduce fees, improve bursaries, open up opportunity for part time working etc ? Also can’t get past the trainer qs with a “well yes” - as otherwise you can’t have the basics in place No teacher does not equate to much teaching

We want more people from deprived backgrounds doing medicine ‘Fab! Are you ⬇️ tuition fees?’ No ‘⬆️ bursaries?’ No ‘What is it?’ Apprentices ‘Wait, so they aren’t medical students?’ No ‘So more students but they aren’t …students?” Exactly ‘Who teaches them?’ Meh-details

@VertueKarin Apprenticeships in nursing are already a thing. It's incredibly hard work but you only need the same number of lecturers and practice assessors as you do if you taught the same number of direct entry students without the issue of finding practice placement opportunities.

Two years into a nursing degree that will cost me £65k in student loans if there had been this option yes I would have gone for it. But where will all these NHS nurse trainers come from? theguardian.com/society/2023/m…

@parthaskar Well yes, but apprentices will open up training opportunities for those who can't afford to take time out of paid work to study or who don't want to rack up years and years of debt. It's not about keeping people out of university, but about providing different routes?

@lou_twin_js @HowThingsWork_ They don't breathe in the sac. They are supplied with oxygen through the umbilical cord which is still connected to the mum via the placenta.

An en caul birth is when the baby comes out still inside an intact amniotic sac. This rare thing of beauty happens in less than 1 in 80,000 births. 😮 Video credit: Calis Emre

@wrs020 @HowThingsWork_ He was ready. My waters all broke just as my babies were being born. Waters breaking is not the sign that the baby is ready to be born, it's just a part of the process.
