Yesterday, @Makerere University School of Public Health successfully concluded a five-day specialized short course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), focused on their application in tuberculosis (TB) research. Held from June 23–27, 2025, in Kololo, the course brought together graduate students, researchers, and junior- to mid-level faculty working in TB and digital health technologies. The training was organized by the School of Public Health through its Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, in collaboration with the University of Georgia (@universityofga) supported by @NIH, under the ALLSTAR Training Program. Co-led by Assoc. Prof. @KiwanukaNoah from MakSPH and Assoc. Prof. Juliet N. Sekandi (@JulietSekandi) from the University of Georgia, the course aimed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in applying digital technologies to health research.

Selected from more than 1,700 abstracts, Patane and Clark presented their abstracts at the 19th INTEREST conference: 🔹“Pulse Wave Velocity as Cardiovascular Disease Risk Predictor in People Living with HIV” 🔹“Leveraging eCBSS Data for Geospatial Mapping of Hotspots and Optimizing the Integrated TB Case Finding (CAST+) Intervention in Eastern Uganda” After their presentations and responses to questions during the discussion period were rated, Clark and Patane came out tops. Congratulations!
