Any true patriot has a duty not to let those responsible for service members’ deaths use their sacrifice as cover for still more needless deaths. It makes me genuinely sick that people who were infants or not yet born on 9/11 are now dying in a Middle Eastern war

This is 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19. The Pentagon says they were killed Friday in an Iranian attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The remains of another person were found after the same attack and have not yet been identified. RIP.

BREAKING: Houthis of Yemen announce a a "maritime embargo" against Saudi Arabia, "effective immediately." Saudi Arabia has until now exported ~4.5m b/d from Yanbu in the Red Sea, most of it heading South throughout the Bab al-Mandab Strait between Yemen and Djibouti-Eritrea

People hear that US military facilities are hit in Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, yet somehow fail to ask the most obvious question.

Curt Mills says anti-war foreign policy is the future of American politics: “As it pertains to the Middle East, it means a more even-handed approach — that the US isn’t picking winners and losers in this part of the planet.”

Based on NYT reporting, Iranian missiles are successfully penetrating air defenses and striking the US bases in Jordan with every wave. Unless US destroys the missiles and launchers (something it failed to do even at the height of the war), the bases will remain vulnerable.

Gee, who could have imagined that bombing the hell out of a country would drive a massive rally-around-the-flag effect?

The Iran war won’t literally last forever. But it belongs to a forever-war pattern. Force applied to problems with no military solution, no satisfying political settlement, and no exit beyond the next escalation

Spectacular from @oren_cass "The chorus of war enthusiasts never loses its enthusiasm for war. Each war is a good idea at the start and, once it turns out not to be a good idea, the answer is more war. The only way to lose is to stop fighting, and this they never suggest, which means that when we do lose, they can invariably say that we lost only because we stopped taking their advice. Convenient."
