A surrogate is on life support. There is a contract. The commissioning parents decide how long her body is kept alive to complete the pregnancy, or to not complete it. They decide who lives and who dies and when. Not her own family. Her body is no longer under her control. This is surrogacy.

This brochure was found at the “Wish for a Baby” fertility fair in Berlin. It advertises a surrogacy program in Ghana. The package offered to clients includes: • “Unlimited Frozen Embryo Transfers” • Up to 10 embryos • The possibility of “changing surrogates”.. Meanwhile, the brochure explains that surrogate mothers live in agency housing under supervision… while the clients enjoy a 21-day tourism stay in Ghana. A reproductive assembly line. Women managed. Babies delivered. Clients on vacation. This is the reality of the global surrogacy industry.

Oh. Forgot to tell you this. If you change from the Victoria Line to the Piccadilly Line at Green Park, you know that endless bloody walk you have to do up that long tunnel? Our midget mayor has put up posters ALL along each side, featuring members of the TFL network, all gurning in suitably inane ways, with a brief description of what their jobs are. And EVERY SINGLE ONE has their personal pronouns after their names. In great big letters. Personally, I was thrilled to bits. Because if I ever bump into one of those morons, I shall know exactly how to refer to them… & the results might not tally…

Two very young, drunk girls on my train this morning. Clearly vulnerable and the @SouthernRailUK female guard has done a brilliant job looking after them, checking they are ok, keeping their possessions safe and helping them get home. 👏👏
