Climate damages are "6X LARGER than previously thought", says new NBER working paper – every 1C wipes out 12% of global GDP – every tonne of CO2 causes >$1,000 of damages @GernotWagner tells me: "Assuming nobody finds a flaw in this paper, it is going to truly change things"

BREAKING: June 2023 has blown away all prior records for the month of June, coming in at a staggering 0.16C above the prior record set in 2019. It was around 1.46C above the typical temperatures we saw in June in the preindustrial era (1850-1899).

This isn't evidence-based and balanced journalism. It is an editorial line against anything to do with net zero.

ICE cars are 19x more likely to catch fire than EVs, argues the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, which has compiled the statistics for car fires in 2022. In 2022, 24 electric or plug-in hybrid cars caught fire in Sweden, which accounts for approximately 0.004% of all electric and PHEV cars in Sweden. Of the entirely fossil fuel-driven cars, around 0.08% caught fire. The number of fires in electric cars has remained around 20 per year for the last three years, even though the number of electric cars has almost doubled to nearly 611,000, MSB points out.

Only 1.5% had replaced their batteries outside of a recall or warranty period. Most of those were older Nissan Leafs lacking liquid battery temperature control systems.

One extreme to another in less than one week! Beauvais, France 🇫🇷 broke its monthly heat record on March 31 with a baking +24.8°C and then went on to beat its monthly cold record on April 6 with a chilling -6.9°C. This violent season flip is brutal for flora and fauna.

Finally, someone other than me and my mates suggesting that buying a massive, heavy, inefficient petrol or diesel SUV when you live in a city is probably a good example of extreme human stupidity. bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

How do emissions from meat, dairy and other foods compare? The climate impact of beef and lamb dwarfs that of other foods. But producing beef is more than twice as carbon intensive as producing lamb (@_HannahRitchie @OurWorldInData) Find out why ➡️ j.mp/39KzXaX

Impressive plans, @POTUS! Combining economic, social and climate goals is the right way towards decarbonization! Congratulations, America once again takes leadership for the world. Very happy to be able to contribute with our #EV‘s and @ElectrifyAm. washingtonpost.com/climate-enviro…
