Hello everyone,
Benito’s passing has taken us all by surprise. His wife and family are now facing the toughest time imaginable.
To honour his memory and celebrate his life, we would like to collect the testimonies, conversations, and memorable stories we shared with him.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to share a memory of Benoit. Especially as he touched and changed the lives of so many of us.

Benoit is literally everywhere around me. A decade of friendship that led to the creation of memories literally everywhere I look and with everyone I talk to. He taught me many things through his unique vision on life. The debates we had, the laugh, the shared love for gaming and tech, ... he always came with absolutely weird but amazing idea, either at FNATIC, in between and then obviously at RTFKT.

I am shrouded in profound sadness by the abrupt passing of Benoit Pagotto @benit0it. I have very few friends—actually, almost none. But RTFKT’s @RTFKT Benoit, whom I first met online during the pandemic, was one of the rare beings who made me think, “Ah! This person might be my friend!” From his ideas with no limits to his drive and ability to take action, he was simply unparalleled. And above all, his kindness! When my family visited Paris and my son was feeling down, Benoit kindly spent a few days with him, showing him around the city and playing games together. His compassion was truly beyond measure. ∞! Benoit! Let us meet again someday!! Because I do believe in the next world beyond!! Until then, rest in peace, my friend. 🙏

just found this banger picture. that day, in Paris, we just had finished eating in a restaurant but they were out of tiramisu. tiramisu is my ultimate favorite.
and @benitopagotto , being who he is, wanted me to be fulfilled so he just googled which place had the best tiramisu around, CALLED THEM and made them believe that i was a professional tiramisu connoisseur from italy
when we arrived, the chef and waiters were literally waiting for my notes and we couldn’t stop laughing 😂
he was a pure legend, we were sharing the same love of making absolutely insanely weird situations

Still one of the closest group I have is the Korean Clone friends.
Will miss those days forever.

This is the post which first led @benitopagotto to reach out via DM. I thought he'd be pissed but he found it funny, he would dish out jokes but could also easily take them. His overly authentic personality, with a spice of French brashness, didn't always translate well on socials but speaking privately you could tell he was a well meaning kind guy.
I was one of the bigger critics on RTFKT's direction/approach but he was genuinely appreciative of the ideas/dialogue & and would calmly try to explain why they'd love to do certain things but couldn't given the business environment they were in.
I know he was actively pushing for a new home for Clones even after the sunset, he cared more than many in the community believed.
RIP Benoit, your vision proved to be ahead of its time but still damn glad to have been on this journey trying to push culture towards a new & unconventional direction.
While some will say Clones failed or died out, in my 12 years in this industry there's hardly anything I witnessed that had as much soul in it as the early days where art, pop-culture & tech perfectly converged to birth a level of self expression that for perhaps the first time made the abstract concept of 'digital identity' something tangible, something exciting. That soul will linger on via the art, artifacts & memories... and that no one can take away.
