I have recently selected these (and a few more) one-of-a-kind sea baroque (free-form) pearls that were naturally cultivated and grown in the Al Rams area, keeping the old methods and traditions. It is the only pearl farm, the only traditional one in the UAE / Arabian Gulf region, and the first Arabian pearl farm in the world, founded by its owner to honor his grandfather’s legacy as a pearl diver; amid mangroves and near the Al Hajar Mountains. It uses native Pinctada radiata oysters (Gulf pearl oyster), where you find unique pearls with a very special luster, velvety texture, silky touch, enhanced with light subtle greens, pink, cream, gold, light blues, and iridescent hues, soft glowing Arabian pearls. Their production is limited, with an emphasis on heritage, patience, and uniqueness !
Over the last 5 years, I have taken the time to understand and learn about sea pearls around the world. I must confess that these are my favorite by far; you will never see such rare beauty nourished by the senseless light of our star, the sun. But as the owner personally explained to me, their value is beyond the nature we see here on Earth; they have a deep connection not just with the heavens, the sun, and the moon, but with all stars in the Universe. Let’s not forget that mangroves are precious for the oxygen they provide to our world, but they constantly receive stardust, and so do the pearls
I highly believe that in these specific circumstances, where the organic intervention of mankind helps to highlight and create such awe-inspiring beauties, is exactly what makes them so special, exceptional, inimitable, and exclusive. In my opinion, they are underrated; as conscious creativity is—indeed, and so far, the most unique thing in the Universe
I also had the opportunity to personally pre-select the so-called ‘natural ones’ (they are all quite natural to me), or better said, the ones you find randomly by chance in the high seas within the region. They are indeed incredibly beautiful and peculiar, but in my humble opinion, from my perspective and experience, regardless of their beauty and grace, they are not superior in any sense to the ones cultivated in that specific farm and otherworldly location
I still need to understand more and continue learning about sea pearls, and I will, as soon as any chance to do so arises, through empirical observation, as this life allows me to
Photographs: I placed them in mother-of-pearl to highlight their luster, shine, and natural shades, but they actually stand out beautifully on their own in any case. Gradually, I will be presenting the other baroque sea pearls I have hand-picked for CLEIR STUDIO’s future art jewelry inspirations @CleirAtelier
