@pansas18 Had to start being far more intentional about my writing as a faculty member. Now I have one day a week that is reserved only for my writing (when my brain says so) and I attend a writing retreat at least once a year (where I get most of my writing done).

Admittedly haven’t been able to write for like a month (possibly longer). Being on faculty side for a brief minute, I now get the abrupt & constant ebbs & flows of an unpredictably disrupted writing cadence 😭

Finished grading. Done surviving 1st semester on the TT. What a tough, weird transition its been.

i have secured funding to run a summer school for secondary school teachers on language and social in/justice. it'll be over 3 days and involve teachers engaging with linguistic justice theory and applying this to practice. more details soon but feel free to express interest!💜

@BrianaNBarner Some of these terms are super interesting because they get funding based on HSI status, so like the banning of terms like Latino is just wild. I mean they are all wild, but also self sabotaging.

@MikeMenaNYC This is also super useful for intro level university courses - and I would love to do some of it in Spanish since I teach these concepts in my Spanish linguistics undergrad courses!

@DiasporaDash Also, look up Almeida Toribio and Juan Valdez's work on Dominican Spanish. They (both Dominican) do a great job of bringing in the Afracanismos in their analyses.

Need these linguistic insights so bad for Africanized Spanish. That “R” turning into an “L” in Caribbean Spanish in particular. I have lots of observations around this but I need someone w this training to speak on it.Only linguist I know that has done work on this is John Lipski
