At $100/kWh electric vehicles become cheaper than petrol/diesel vehicles. At the average 18% per year rate of reduction over the past decade, that point is less than two years away. Change is coming faster than we think #auspol #ElectricVehicles #ClimateChange
BloombergNEF@BloombergNEF

Battery prices, which were above $1,100 per kilowatt-hour in 2010, have fallen 87% in real terms to $156/kWh in 2019. By 2023, average prices will be close to $100/kWh. Learn more from our 2019 Battery Price Survey here: bloom.bg/2LiZSu5

@MrKRudd Sign the petition, ok. Stop buying anything news Corp (fox, realestate dot com dot au, all the papers obviously). Ask family and friends to do the same. Support diversity including abc/SBS/guardian, Saturday paper, new daily). What else?

@MrKRudd How do we actually get more diversity? We understand the problem acutely, but what are the top 3 things we should all be doing now to fix it?

There goes Murdoch, trying to bully Grace Tame like they have so many voices for progress over the years. They whine about "cancel culture" but they will try to cancel anyone who doesn't share their reactionary worldview. We need more diversity, not less. #MurdochRoyalCommission

Some pretty good labour force numbers - which ever way you cut it. Implications huge for the monetary policy outlook. It was always dubious that the RBA would be on hold till 2024. A bit more of this news and it will be hiking within 12 months.

@TheKouk What about debt servicing risks for households taking on 30 year mortgages at these rates?

Budget repair will be very important when the economy returns to full strength. The sharp rise in bond yields since late 2020 shows clearly the debt servicing cost risks for the huge volume of 2025 - 2035 bonds when they are rolled over. 1% on yields is ~$10b pa in interest costs

Surprisingly stronger for longer. I misread the pent up demand - didn't think house prices would be this strong. I remain cautious on house prices in the medium term due to the lack of underlying demand from zero immigration

The severe weather conditions in Sydney weren't enough to dampen local auction markets, with @corelogicau reporting a preliminary clearance rate of 87.5% this week. Its looking like Sydney is on track to post seven straight weeks where the final clearance rate has held above 80%.

And if we shift focus purely from how they ‘look’ to how they ‘perform’ - quality of natural light, ventilation, views out, material durability - I suspect they’ll compare favorably to some of the recent rubbish that hides bad amenity behind a veneer of style

..hope for recognition of such buildings’s qualities @MichaelPascoe01 ! These are a collection of fine buildings, poorly photographed by @smh. Most built as compact affordable housing, in fine condition 50-60 years after they were built. Seidler was combative but such fine work

#UPDATE: Rex v Scott - My #FOI challenge to the secrecy blanket @ScottMorrisonMP placed over ‘National Cabinet’ will be heard on 19 May 🍿🥤. A government afraid to let its people judge them on their stewardship is a government both disrespectful and afraid of its people. #auspol

@colonelhogans They can’t condemn coups because they want to keep open the option of launching another coup at the next election

#insiders Maiden dragging in Bill Shorten again #fauxequivalence .. can journalists not see the difference? Porter is First Law Officer, a cabinet minister in the ruling party in government, with extraordinary powers over the judicial system .. Shorten was in charge of nothing

You have absolutely got to be kidding. The government is going to blame the floods for slow delivery of vaccines? The problems existed way before the floods started. #auspol #insiders

Some people are so entrenched in the buying #petrol from a service station they can never be saved. Talking #EVs you plug your car in every night, it’s full every morning.. but why would I want to go to a petrol station every day to have it full every day? #fossilfuel

@sydney_ev Yeah so the ritual of using a petrol station will still exist in a mainstream mass market penetration scenario for many. Some privileged people will refuel at their driveways, others at supermarkets, others in their strata carparks in apartments, others at street chargers.

@ClimateAction15 Then you use a dc fast charger like you would a normal petrol station, except you do it while shopping or only when you need it.

This is not the best mea culpa from @smh regarding Jack Mundey. My dim childhood memory is of Mundey being public enemy No1 in late 60’s & 70’s particularly in arch conservative press of time. Jack has been proved right on so many issues he championed-well before others followed
