It took Scott Morrison about a year to dismantle Australia’s public health system, under Covid, via the invention of his ludicrous ‘National Cabinet’. An abomination in governance terms, completely at odds with federalism and its checks and balances.
As soon as National Cabinet got moving, action against Covid ceased. That was the plan, to sever ties between Premiers and their health departments, and create a greater allegiance to the National Cabinet groupthink solidarity.
The fact the energy crisis has been referred directly to National Cabinet tells you exactly why we’re doing absolutely fuck all to head off a looming catastrophe there. It’s a support group for the impotent, who take strength from each other in their inaction.
