Kinsale Club, Naples, Fla 2024 Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner New on the scene in the golf rich city of Naples, the Kinsale Club has opened and is taking the area by storm. Kinsale is nothing like you’ve seen anywhere around town. It’s bold and rugged, giving homage to Scotland and some of its great historic template holes. The course allows you to play the ball through the air or many times on the ground as well. The course sits on a flat very small parcel of land. The routing is intimate taking you in all directions giving you varied winds over the entire course. It doesn’t play overly long at 6800 yds from the back tees. But add in the wind and it’s every thing you can handle if you decide to go all the way back. The teeth of the course lies in its par 3’s. There are five of them. Redan, Eden, Biarritz, and even Postage Stamp. The club values par on those holes so highly, that if anyone makes par or better on each one, they get a commemorative coin to award the feat. Trust me when I tell you, these are some of the toughest sets of 3’s you’ll ever play. The fairways run firm and fast. They are narrow with plenty of waste areas guarding either side. If that isn’t enough, there are pot bunkers galore demanding strategy in club selection off the tee. Be bold and accurate and leave yourself with much easier short irons or a wedge into many of the devilish template greens. Putts roll very true and have the right amount of speed. Kinsale Club is a course you could play every day. It’s going to challenge you each time and it’s probably going to play a little different each time as well depending on the wind direction. Kudos to all involved in this project. It’s one to be proud of for sure.
