You know this, how? Are you a trained response officer? If so, please give us all your expert input. We often do exchange postings, as they broaden knowledge and skill exchange. The officer’s error is not a matter of legality; it is a matter of control. He flags the weapon across multiple people, showing poor muzzle discipline and no clear arc of fire. He appears to fire reactively without isolating the threat or confirming a safe backstop. There is no visible role allocation; multiple officers converge without coordination, increasing the risk of crossfire. He also closes distance into a physical restraint phase while still armed, which is high risk once others are hands-on. I am a trained CTSFO who worked on protection teams for diplomats and Heads of State. Ours and the US protective doctrine wouldn't differ that much. There should have been just one designated shooter; the others should have managed containment. Clear sectors, no crossing arcs. Maintain distance, use verbal commands, and use less-lethal first. Only fire with a clean line of sight and a controlled backdrop. The officer who let off several rounds didn't have any of that. Once the suspect is being restrained, lethal force is reassessed, and the firearm is de-escalated unless the threat persists.

Anyone complaining about the crossfire can go ahead and drop it because this is secret service on anti-assassination duty. The only one you hold your shot to avoid hitting is the VIPs you're protecting. That's the assignment, everyone knows it. However she should be roasted for her insufficient aim.
