Kemi praised Home Secretary Sajid Javid for scrapping the cap on work visas, thanked him in the Commons, and said she had personally lobbied for it. Curious hearing lectures on immigration control from someone who applauded opening the tap when it suited. Never trust a Tory.

Kemi’s political instinct is not to lead, but to linger at the back of the crowd until the direction is obvious, then stride to the front and declare herself the pioneer. On the hate marches, as on leaving the ECHR, she was not ahead of the argument. She was dragged there by events, by public anger, and by the unmistakable sense that the country had already moved without her. Only once the position became safe, and the consensus among the party grassroots undeniable, did she find her voice. That is not leadership. Leaders shape events. They do not emerge from the undergrowth once the battle is already won and claim to have fired the first shot. This is the pattern. Delay. Hesitate. Calculate. Then arrive late, wrapped in the language of conviction. It is opportunism dressed up as courage, and too many mistake the costume for the real thing.

'I am not here to speak for foreigners' Kemi Badenoch refuses to condemn Sir Keir Starmer's decision to block conservative voices he deemed 'far-right agitators' from entering the UK.

This is what happens when she faces a journo who isn’t a just a Tory propagandist. Lie after lie. These seats were NOT last fought at peak Boris popularity, but in the depths of his unpopularity. Kemi is playing the game on easy mode and still failing catastrophically.
Lee Harris@LeeHarris

Wow. I've NEVER seen an interview THIS bad from the leader of a political party. Kemi falls apart here. She *completely* loses her composure because she knows the Tories got DESTROYED at the local elections. She also agreed with banning speakers at UTK The Tories are finished

👉 #Echobox=1778991049" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">eveshamjournal.co.uk/news/26100306.… Of course she does. A firm which employs very few Britons, serving extortionately-priced sandwiches to wealthy commuters like herself. How about a local independent that supports the local economy, & employs British people on decent wages?

I remember telling Gav in the Commons tearoom in about 2013 that his pro immigration liberal views wouldn't save him in Croydon Central. He disagreed and then wrote a book about how to win his marginal seat. Which he then lost. Read the Room Gav.

Actually Croydon East is one of the few seats we would have won back based on the results on 7 May - but like many people on here John bases his opinions on prejudices not facts

@TorstenBell Neither the BBC nor the NHS existed when my father was born. What country did he live in, Torsten? Why do you think he was prepared to die for it?

@TorstenBell If all that makes you proud of Britain is the BBC and the NHS, no wonder your party is in such dire straits.

The Tory Government literally allowed the annexation of Crimea. I’d sit this one out. Ukrainians need actions not flag waving photo opportunities for MP’s losing their seats at the next election. Essex = Tory Wipe Out Suffolk = Tory Wipe Out Read your tweet to find out why.
James Cartlidge MP 🇬🇧 🇺🇦@jcartlidgemp

Ukrainian flags are flown from buildings, worn as badges & displayed on x profiles to show sympathy with their people - bombed & brutalised by Putin, without provocation. For a new Reform council to prioritise their removal looks, at best, callous - at worst, a win for Putin.

Personal update: I was planning on taking a couple of days off over the next month. Given the news, I will instead be dedicating myself to helping the Reform candidate for Makerfield end Andy Burnham’s career and accelerate an early general election. Will be fun!
