The Redditch Borough Council AGM is tomorrow. Mark this post. Unless Reform UK backs out of the deal at the last minute, they will be coronating a Tory as their local leader in Redditch without even requiring him to be a party member first. They will come to regret this move.

🚨 BREAKING: We now have enough sources to say with a degree of confidence that Reform, Conservatives and Independents are collaborating to install Cllr Matt Dormer (Conservative with just 4 seats) as Leader of Redditch Borough Council. LAB 13 REF 8 CON 4 IND 2

So I have spoken to a couple of people who have access to the Conservative Party membership database. Her name cannot be found. So at this stage @jessalinecaine I'd appreciate it if you could provide evidence of your party membership or delete the claim you are a party member.

Andy Burnham doesn’t want Makerfield. He wants No.10. I’m a Tory member and I’m saying to vote Reform to stop him. On the Mike Graham Show this morning

You may have missed the use of the word 'attempted', and you may also have a worrying misunderstanding of data protection rights and laws, not to mention the code of conduct. You may also be committing safeguarding breaches as this is a young woman whom you are attempting to dox. Membership of a political party is highly sensitive and protected data. You should not be checking anyone's records, or getting others to do so without a legitimate reason. That is a misuse of your power or their power and privileged access to sensitive systems. What was your motivation in accessing these systems to conduct this search? It is none of your business whether someone is a party member or not, and it is not for you or your henchmen to check. Your behaviour may be regarded as an attempt to frighten and intimidate this person, contrary to the code of conduct.

It has been 11 DAYS without Reform in Worcestershire appointing their people to the Vice Chair posts on scrutiny committees, meaning they are not even bothering to hold the alliance fully to account.

🏛 “Right Decision or Betrayal?” Worcestershire Reacts to Adam Kent Suspension The suspension of Worcestershire Conservative leader Adam Kent has triggered a fierce reaction across local politics and social media, with residents deeply divided over whether he acted responsibly — or crossed a political line. Kent was suspended by the Conservative Party after helping form a coalition between Conservatives, Greens, Liberal Democrats and independents to remove Reform UK from control of Worcestershire County Council. The coalition ultimately installed Green councillor Matt Jenkins as leader. The story has exploded online because many residents see it as bigger than party politics. For some, Kent is being treated as a politician who put Worcestershire first after months of instability under Reform UK control. Before his suspension, Kent said residents had: “suffered appallingly due to the instability of Reform.” Former Reform councillor David Taylor also criticised Westminster interference, saying: “Residents are fed up with politics.” Across social media, many residents praised Kent for working across parties to restore stability at County Hall. Comments included: - “At least someone finally put Worcestershire before party politics.” - “Good on him for stopping the chaos.” - “People care more about potholes than Westminster tribalism.” But others viewed the move very differently. Some Conservative and Reform supporters accused Kent of betraying voters by helping install a Green-led administration. Criticism online included: - “Voters didn’t elect Conservatives to put Greens in charge.” - “This is exactly why people don’t trust politicians.” - “A backroom deal against voters.” The national Conservative Party took a hard line. Party chairman Kevin Hollinrake accused Kent of misleading colleagues and said: “The Party’s position was clear.” The backlash has become so intense that Kent has reportedly faced abusive comments online, including one social media user suggesting he should be hanged. What makes this story so significant is that it reflects a much wider political shift happening in Worcestershire. The county is increasingly fragmented politically. With Nigel Farage calling it a basket case and wishing he hadn't bothered. And many residents appear exhausted by constant political warfare while basic local issues like: 🕳 potholes 🚗 roads 🏥 services 💷 council finances continue dominating everyday life whilst the council still has to find £30 million in savings to deliver a balanced budget for 2027. The suspension of Adam Kent has therefore become more than an internal Conservative dispute. For many people across Worcestershire, it has become a symbol of a much bigger question: ❓Should local councillors work across party lines to keep councils functioning — or should party loyalty always come first?

@ZiaYusufUK If this is true, why then are we being told that Reform in Redditch are doing a deal with the Tories to install a Tory leader of that council when the Tories have only 4 seats on that council to Reform's 8? How can this be allowed?

🚨 NEW: Statement from Adam Kent can only mean that he believes what CCHQ said about the alliance was untrue. They said it was not authorised and he misled his own group, he is saying otherwise and appears prepared to take it to court where everything will be aired in public.
Adam Kent@adamdkent

Statement by Adam Kent, County Councillor for the Wythall Division of Worcestershire. As a councillor on Worcestershire County Council for the Wythall division, my focus is on the residents I represent in my division and Worcestershire and the local issues that concern them, which I continue to work hard to resolve. I have been suspended by the Conservative Party pending an investigation that I’ve been asked by the party not to comment upon. The party have been keen to stress that my suspension does not imply any assumption of wrongdoing and is merely a neutral and precautionary step. Unfortunately, contrary to the parties procedures, a letter has been sent by the Chairman of the Conservative Party to the entire Conservative membership, as well as posted by him on social media, which has been disseminated widely. What he has said about me in that letter is false, defamatory and wholly inaccurate, and the matter is with my lawyers. Despite all that has happened in the past week, I look forward to working with the other members of the council to continue to carry out the job for which I have been elected. Perhaps it was never a good idea to create and rely upon an entire class of local politician to win national seats in the first place, thus disengaging and disenfranchising ordinary members and voters. Those of us with long memories will recall the days where members would appear in their hundreds to campaign for elections. That's how John Major won in 1992, thanks largely to a volunteer-run ground game that did not rely on councillors with inflated egos. Imagine that, a canvassing session where the majority of people who turn up are not councillors or candidates. The party moniker in local elections was never intended to cede control to Westminster-based rule. It was always intended to ensure the party's policies were implemented at a local level, with appropriate tailoring to the local circumstances and context.

@tomedwardsbbchw Have the Tory’s just lost their strategic leverage in county. Will this all end up with an apology? Are other councils suffering the same fate, what’s the crac with neighbouring Brum? If the national is removed from local who’s going to fight for Tory MP seats. The Cllrs won’t

🚨DEVELOPING: Councillor Adam Kent pushes back to Tim Montgomerie directly.
Adam Kent@adamdkent

Tim I must have missed the call from you before you posted this to check facts in advance of comment, clearly forgotten the conversation we had at an LGA conference a few years ago, I also note a post about a horrendous incident you have had this week, with myself having had to deal with a very vindictive pile on by angry national politicians, I received this week information about a serious deranged individual wanting to hang draw and quarter me this week so I sympathise. I know the party he belongs to but will not post it as it’s irrelevant and would only further inflame response. As a media specialist do you normally post like this without asking the other side their view or to establish facts therefore giving them a chance to defend themselves, realising as they are gagged and cannot say anything it is highly unlikely. Maybe you like many others will very soon start to consider , the rhetoric , the anger and the lack of control so visible in national politics and come to the conclusion that it’s no surprise that local politicians who actually want to help real local residents with real local issues are really the champions of politics in this country and not the reactionary , ill disciplined angry people we see ranting every day. Worcestershire Councillors United cross party to stop one man becoming the face of Worcestershire, the party’s irrelevant. I’m sure you knew all the facts like the millions that have reposted and commented on my suspension , although I must have missed the “what happened call from you” Anyway just to help this is why 11 Conservatives, 7 Liberal Democrats , 5 Independents and 8 Greens voted to join together in common cause, plus of course the fact that Reform had turned Worcestershire into a Basket Case that your supreme leader wished he hadn’t even bothered with. Enjoy your day perhaps take a journalism course ?

QUOTE: "... as long as we are supporting decisions we would have made had we been in a majority situation." Spot on! Worcestershire's alliance could have benefited from Conservative influence, and what's more the majority of things on the agenda are things that Conservatives would have done as well anyway!
Vodka & Seledka 🇬🇧@seledka_vodka

Folks, this is getting tiresome. Are @Conservatives allowed to make ANY alliances at the local level, with ANY party? At this rate, if the local Tory groups abide by the edicts of the commentariat, they won’t be able to work for the benefit of the constituents at all, unless we are in a majority situation. And, honestly, none of us have the slightest clue what’s going on in numerous councils around the UK. Let’s be honest about it. So, I will say this. If the local Tories are supporting decisions that are CONSERVATIVE and COMPETENT, I don’t care who they create blocks and alliances with. Naturally, I’m against alliances with anyone, but compromise at a local level is something ALL parties do in order to actually govern make decisions. I will leave it to CCHQ and the local leaders to square the strategy - as long as we are supporting decisions we would have made had we been in a majority situation. Anything else is moral panic.

🚨NEW: The Redditch branch of Reform UK has appointed a new Campaign Manager... 👇
kyleWakefieldReform@KyleWakefield23

At 18 years old, becoming the Campaign Manager for the Redditch branch of @reformparty_uk is something I never imagined would happen a few years ago. My life hasn’t exactly followed the “normal” path. Growing up, I faced a lot of challenges that many people never saw. I lived with my biological mother until I was 7 years old, struggled massively in education and was two years behind academically at one point. There were moments growing up where I genuinely felt lost, underestimated and unsure of where my future was heading. But one thing I’ve always had is determination. Over the years, I worked hard to build confidence in myself, improve my communication skills and create opportunities instead of waiting for them to come to me. That journey led me into podcasting, motivational speaking and now politics — all things I once would’ve never believed I’d be doing. Politics became important to me because I care deeply about people who feel unheard, ignored or left behind. I know what it feels like to struggle, to feel disconnected and to think your voice doesn’t matter. That’s one of the reasons why joining Reform UK felt different to me. Since becoming involved with Reform, I’ve genuinely felt welcomed and supported. For the first time in politics, I felt like younger people were actually being given a chance to step up and contribute rather than simply being pushed aside because of age or lack of experience. That meant a lot to me personally. Now, as Campaign Manager for the Redditch branch, I’m working tirelessly to help spread the message of Reform UK throughout the local area and across social media. Whether it’s campaigning, creating content, speaking to members of the public or encouraging political discussion online, I’m giving it everything I’ve got because I truly believe younger people deserve to have their voices heard in British politics. One of my biggest goals is encouraging more young people to get involved politically. Too many people my age feel disconnected from politics completely, often because they believe nobody listens to them. I want to help change that mindset. You don’t need to come from a perfect background, have loads of qualifications or be older to make an impact. If you care enough and work hard enough, your voice matters. I’m proud of how far I’ve come already, especially considering where I started in life. But I also know this is only the beginning. I’ll continue working hard, speaking up for what I believe in and doing everything I can to help bring more people — especially younger generations — into politics and into the conversation about the future of our country. No matter what challenges I’ve faced in life, one thing has always stayed the same: I’ve never stopped believing that better things are possible through hard work, resilience and having the courage to lead the way.
