After 28 years the Curse of the South Gloucestershire Council Chamber is finally broken! 😱 @ClaireforTAY, with Super Agent @jonlean, surpasses the best efforts of Ian Boulton, Sam Bromiley, Louise Harris, Matthew Riddle, Peter Tyzack, Ben Walker, Ben Nutland and Liz Brennan 🗳️

Congratulations to Lib Dem candidates Kate Andrews and Jon Lean who have won seats on Frampton Cotterell Parish Council, beating Reform UK by taking 74% of the vote on a very high turnout of 40.5% I’m delighted that residents have backed Kate and Jon and rejected Reform.

Congratulations to Aurora Hedgeway School in Pilning - the Modeshift STARS National SEND School of the Year for its travel plans. The school is tucked away on a single track road and has introduced a park and ride scheme, more taxi sharing and secured a 20mph speed limit.

Nigel Farage has committed prosecutable election offences with this video under the Representation of the People Act 1983. The Act prohibits inducing voters through the threat of “temporal injury”, which includes material disadvantage such as the targeted imposition of government burdens. Threatening to specifically house illegal migrants in a constituency if it does not vote Reform is coercive and constitutes a criminal offence.
Nigel Farage MP@Nigel_Farage

If you vote Reform you will not have an illegal migrant deportation facility in your area. We will hold migrants awaiting deportation in constituencies that vote Green instead. You get what you vote for.

Reform in 2025 dominated in local elections, winning 680 out of 1641 seats mostly at expense of Conservatives. Will they do it again this year with Lab? 1600+ impressive 2000 great results. Look too for Greens, can they push past 500 seats gains?

🚨LOCAL ELECTIONS: Here’s what we will be looking at when the results come in to help gauge state of the parties Analysis by Professors Thrasher & Rallings’ suggests Labour could lose up to 2000 of the c2500 seats its’ defending & Tories up to 1000 in most extreme scenario 🧵

I have signed a letter to the Education Secretary expressing concerns about the integrity of the government’s SEND consultation following reports that Labour MPs have received pre-written suggestions on what they should report back after meeting with constituents

Today the Renters’ Rights Act comes into force, giving new rights to tenants. I popped into Yate Shopping Centre to meet the people behind the #WErentcampaign A free guidebook in plain English is available at we-rent.org.uk The pop up living room was a lot of fun!

I hosted a round table meeting to discuss Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at Dodington Parish Hall. It was to assist parents and carers to make their responses to the SEND White Paper consultation and to help me continue to speak up for them in Parliament.

Thank you to everyone at Wellesley Primary School in Yate for their warm welcome. I had a chance to discuss funding challenges and the proposed government legislation for Special Educational Needs with Head Heather Small and Chair of Governors Stewart Osgood.

I know better bus services are a priority for many people in Thornbury and Yate. Here’s a chance to have your say with the people who make the decisions.

@TristanCorkPost Not strictly true in terms of the powers a Mayoral Combined Authority possesses. Otherwise the bus fare cap would be uniform across the country which isn’t the case. Helen does, however, seem reluctant to introduce a mayoral precept to be able to effectively use such powers

The ‘what changes to ticket prices’ contains no option to say ‘cheaper fares’ because the metro mayor has no control over fares, or indeed, anything much

I’ve had a meeting with GWR and Network Rail where we discussed requests for a late night train from Bristol to Yate, improvements to Yate station and better public transport connectivity. I will continue to raise the concerns constituents have expressed in my Rail Survey
