100 percent disagree. One of the great film making achievements. Warren Beatty is one of the best directors of the last 50 years. This is a beautifully made film on every level with one of the great Diane Keaton performances.
Any person wanting to make a love story that is both small and epic should watch this.
In this era of shorter attention spans REDS stands out as what long form storytelling used to be.
This used to be what a big screen movie was with our IMAX or special effects - and it is breathtaking.
The witnesses alone - real people from the era telling the story interspersed with the films scenes give of a depth and authenticity we never see anymore in studio movies.

BODYCAM is a nifty little indie horror whic proves that feature-length found footage can still cook. Recalls AS ABOVE SO BELOW in its inventiveness, imagination, and nightmare logic. If director Brandon Christensen isn’t already on your radar as one to watch, he should be.

It says a lot about the current state of film criticism that a movie with Jessica Chastain as a San Francisco philanthropist in a sexually obsessive relationship with an undocumented Mexican ballet dancer is currently playing in 100+ theaters and no one is writing about it.

I’m just allergic to “no one has written about this” claims. Takes 5 seconds to google or to check out RT to access all the published reviews to prove you wrong. Film criticism has millions of problems. But trust me, “critics not writing about movies” ain’t one of them.

Well, DREAMS was reviewed by *all* the trades, + NYTimes, Independent, Guardian, Telegraph, AP, Tribune, SF Chronicle, + AV Club, RogerEbert, Slant & various blogs. It IS being written about but not talked about. Says more about the state of marketing-driven film culture to me.

highly recommend "Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert."
however, understand that this is not a documentary or anything like a life of Presley, or even a linear representation of his career. most focus is on Las Vegas acts with just a few glimpses of his earlier career & (thank God) little or nothing of the end of his career. most disconcerting footage: excruciatingly awful clips from ghastly movies Presley's unspeakably exploitive manager (fake "Colonel") contracted him for. what a loss! Presley had wanted to make serious films, & all he was given was fatuous trash.
over all a remarkably assemblage of film footage presenting Presley as immensely talented indeed--astonishingly energetic--warm, sympathetic, funny & surprisingly ingenuous, candid with interviewers.

Shame on NYU Langone for choosing to end gender-affirming care and kick trans New Yorkers to the curb. It's a violation of their promise to treat all people equally, kindly, and respectfully — and a violation of NYC's human rights law as well. Bending the knee to a tyrant is bad; denying people the care they need is even worse.
