good to see Australia's 2nd global city -- Western Sydney -- is attracting global carriers to its new airport. Great complement to Australia's first global city, Sydney.

@Cloudscoree @ct_18_ @AndrewHayen melburnians love dreaming about sydney being less relevant and yet go anywhere overseas and they only know Sydney (or mention it first). melbourne can have its gay sports events. sydney is the wealthiest city, the economic & financial capital and australia's only global city.

@AngloidDefender @ct_18_ @AndrewHayen sydney is the wealthiest, CURRENTLY. melbourne is catching up yeah sydney will still be the most ‘known’ or the first one to come to mind because of the landmarks.. so? Nobody naming a landmark in chicago.. for example. or shanghai. fuck not even tokyo???

@ct_18_ @AngloidDefender @AndrewHayen enjoy living in a city that loses it’s dominance, and becomes less relevant every day. At the end of the day i’ll be the one within a 20 min trip to world class events like the F1 and AO, while u can watch ur sydney opera gay pride light show but you’ll prolly fly here 🤭

@AngloidDefender @ct_18_ @AndrewHayen say what u want, nice cope tho you can use your central coast measure, and i’ll use my SUA continuous urban area metric melbourne growing so fast it’ll pass ur central coast metric, and i can’t wait to see u pissing ur pants when it does 😂

@Cloudscoree @ct_18_ @AndrewHayen connected huh?? the central coast has a better case for being part of sydney when it's literally just "separated" by a body of water, not fucking paddocks. actually, include Newcastle in Sydney's population if this counts as being "connected"

@ct_18_ @AndrewHayen yeah? living under a rock? melbourne 1.5x-2x more people every year because the vast majority pick Melbourne over Sydney? You don’t think that’s contributing to its GDP?

@AngloidDefender @ct_18_ @AndrewHayen Melton is literally geographically connected. Also, ABS literally has a separate metric for this - it has melbourne at about 5,250,000 and sydney’s at 5,140,000. called SUA. yikes. Sydney’s never been less dominant than now

@Cloudscoree @ct_18_ @AndrewHayen central coast has been included in the population count since the 90s. no one works on the central coast, everyone commutes to central sydney. let's not get started on Melbourne including the town of Melton which isn't even connected to the rest of Melbourne

@AngloidDefender @ct_18_ @AndrewHayen that’s because they include central coast, which isn’t sydney in that case if geelong is included for melbourne (which is really close to our second int. airport, sydney’s tiny

@ct_18_ @AndrewHayen It’s funny you only use a SINGLE report that fits your narrative, every other has melbourne ahead even in those specific lists where sydney is ahead, melbourne is catching up real fast

@ct_18_ @AndrewHayen - Sydney GDP: 20% higher than Melbourne’s (Melbourne catching up fast) - Sydney: Second most populated city now - Sydney: Record number of Sydney siders fleeing to Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane bondi mass shooting, knife attacks? seriously?

@ct_18_ @AndrewHayen this is purely finance based, where both melbourne and sydney are alpha cities (sydney a small tier higher) if you take world class unis, world class events, and culture into account melbourne overtakes by a shit ton

@ct_18_ @AndrewHayen not to mention construction just started for it, and for the third runway aswell, since we are outpacing sydney in populations by hundreds of thousands Melbourne is the largest city in Australia by urban area by hundreds of thousands of people, gap is widening every year 🤭
