For me the Karen Read case was never really about Karen or the McAlberts. It has been about what my journalism has always been about - 1) exposing government corruption, and 2) petitioning the government to fix problems and uphold the law. In this case I exposed that the government was covering up a murder, and I demanded that they stop covering up the murder by investigating the people who the evidence showed killed John O'Keefe. Here is how Part 1 of the Canton Coverup series ended: Trooper Proctor, Brian Albert, Colin Albert, and Jennifer McCabe should all spend significant amount of time in jail, and two of them should be charged with murder. The Canton Police Chief and Deputy Chief should be fired. Karen Read should sue them all for millions and millions of dollars. Every other person in that house should be charged with obstruction of justice, as they witnessed a crime and never reported it. Do you understand how difficult and remarkable it is for at least 11 people to keep their mouths shut for over a year after witnessing the murder of a cop? That’s the kind of fear that the Albert family put into these people. When you say that the government should charge people with crimes you are demanding that the government uphold the law. For me this has always been about holding government officials accountable. Michael Morrissey and Michael Proctor did not kill John O'Keefe, but they are more responsible than anyone for him not receiving justice. They are much worse than the people who actually committed this heinous act. The idiot lawyers suing me on behalf of the McAlberts allege that Karen Read "fed" me a fake story that I knew was complete bullshit, and I ran with it anyway to make money. Here are my messages with my original source - a Duxbury Police Officer who worked with John O'Keefe and believed that his murder was being covered up. He sent me the court filings in the early afternoon, I read them, and I told him that my jaw was on the floor. I made a Twitter post at 6:26 PM announcing that I was writing about this, which is what caught the attention of Natalie, who told Karen. The first time I ever spoke with Natalie was late night on April 17 as I was already in the process of writing my first story on the Canton Coverup. My mind was made up long before I ever spoke with anyone related to Karen Read's defense team, for the same reason every other rational person reached this conclusion - the evidence all points to the McAlberts. Good cops know this better than anyone.
