Yes that's called markets Also, in this specific case, the amount of water used is so miniscule that it's a preposterous question. "Data centers consume tons of water" is a meme not a reality. What IS a reality is that they consume massive amounts of electricity, which would raise prices for all other consumers in that area, and this is ALSO fine, as markets are rational and electricity should go to whomever pays for it. And of course, if price of electricity rises, it encourages more production (if you merely permit markets to work through time instead of regulating and breaking them)

This really troubles me using potable, life giving water for machines. Perhaps I’m alone in this?
