Happy 20th anniversary to Club Penguin, our beloved penguin world that impacted our childhoods and gave us the vast merchandise we have today! 🐧🎂💙 17 years ago, for the game’s 3rd anniversary, there was an in-person Times Square anniversary event in New York City. Many of you might have seen archived photos, but did you know about the Club Penguin merchandise that appeared there? An exclusive real-life 3rd Anniversary Hat was given free to attendees. Since the anniversary also marked the mass release of Club Penguin’s series of merchandise in retail stores, available to purchase at the now-defunct Times Square Toys R Us store were Series 1 penguin plushies ($9.99 USD each), puffle plushies ($5.99 USD each), and Mix N’ Match figures ($5.99 USD each). According to the blog 360kid, some of the first Club Penguin books, a Club Penguin mancala set, and the Fast Flippers board game were also sold. There was even a free playable demo version of the Elite Penguin Force Nintendo DS game, which officially released on November 25, 2008. A tent igloo at the event showcased their Series 1 products inside display cases and the playable igloo figure set, along with “Series 0” puffle plushies on top. It might be too early for Halloween, but congrats to our Discord server member and Club Penguin Atake creator Boo0 for getting this very rare exclusive collectible: an official stop-motion puppet that was used in the Club Penguin: Halloween Panic! TV special. 👻 Back in 2014-2015, 3 Club Penguin stop-motion animated TV specials were produced by Factory Transmedia and aired on Disney channels worldwide and on Club Penguin's What's New blog. Boo0 purchased the puppet from a collector, who in their own words, states they "collect, buy and sell movie/TV props and managed to pick a few from the liquidation auction that was in a pallet of others."
