i've joined @p0 as head of design. the next decade of software is being written for machines to read. the web wasn't built for that. Parallel is rethinking the web's most foundational primitive, search, for its second user. we're growing the team. hiring our first product designer, brand designer, and design eng to define what this looks like. think the elegance of a well-formed schema, the lineage of the early web. if that's you, DM me your best work.
Parallel Web Systems@p0

We're thrilled to officially welcome @yangyou to Parallel as Head of Design. Yang joins us from Paradigm, where she worked alongside early-stage founders to ship 0-to-1 products and led the firm's rebrand.

Cool release from @p0. I think this use-case (agents paying content creators for access via @mpp) will be very big. Micropayment walls haven't worked (as Clay Shirky anticipated many years ago) because of human cognitive overhead, but agents can make arbitrarily granular determinations without decision fatigue.

Today we're launching Index: a platform for content owners to understand how AI agents use their work, and earn revenue when they do. Our first partners include @TheAtlantic, @FortuneMagazine, @PRNewswire, @PitchBook, @ZoomInfo, @Tracxn, @RocketReachCo, @enigma_data, @fiscal_ai, plus creators @alexeheath, @mariogabriele @azeem, @every, and @packyM.

Last week was my final week at Perplexity. After nearly four years of full‑speed, labor‑of‑love work, I felt ready to pass the baton. I’m excited to share that @scspeier will lead the design team going forward. There are many things I’m proud of, but most of all I’m proud of the design culture at Perplexity. It fosters boldness, creativity, trust, and, most importantly, real impact. Everyone on the team lives our brand’s values, embodying curiosity and a love of learning. I have no doubt this culture will not only endure but continue to grow as the company evolves under Sebastian’s stewardship. ····

for the first time, content owners are able to see exactly how AI is using their content based on live-time Parallel traffic, and how others compare check your domain at index[dot]parallel[dot]ai
Parallel Web Systems@p0

Compensation in Index is calculated by estimating each source's Shapley value: its marginal contribution to an agent's answer at the moment of inference. Content that's uniquely valuable, hard to replace, or used in high-value agent work earns more.

any site owner (from independent creator to news publisher) can enter their domain at index.parallel.ai to see how AI agents are using their content right now. which queries it's answering, how often it's referenced, and how unique its contribution is to the work the agent performed

3rd launch in month 2 at @p0: Index by Parallel is a new content platform and economic model for the agentic web. AI agents are the web's second user. they'll use it 1000x more than humans ever have and create enormous value as a result.. but the economic model of the web, built for human users, no longer work when the user is an agent. watch the video:

a conversation with carra was one of the many reasons i joined @p0, and anyone who’s met her knows how deeply she cares about creators & the open internet we’ve been working on something no smaller than reshaping fundamental incentives to keep the web abundant coming very soon

the original NeXTcube at CERN that served the first web pages is still preserved with a handwritten label that reads.. "This machine is a server. DO NOT POWER IT DOWN!!"

the NeXTcube is my underdog: the machine that is severely underrated, overshadowed by its more aesthetic successors the web was, quite literally, built on this machine - it once was the world’s first and only web server founded by Steve Jobs after leaving Apple in 1985, NeXT seeded both the modern web and the modern macOS platform

love a good recordkeeping artifact: this handwritten logbook from UCLA documented the first ever message transmitted over ARPANET on October 29, 1969 the message was “lo”, first two letters of “login” before the system crashed the moment when two networked computers first communicated, marking the genesis of the modern internet

the og immersive chat room and MMO, club penguin. it’s mind-blowing looking back how much content and interactivity was embedded into a 2000s flash game i'd walk around town, go ice fishing, decorate my igloo, and play mancala with an internet stranger
