There are about 150,000 people unemployed in Ireland. The Dept of Enterprise issued about 150,000 work visas in the last 3 years. The Dept of Enterprise do not check the skills available on the live register before they issue working visas. #aontú

@NewstalkFM The headline makes it look like they have an air tight house Not true. ! Theres a pick list of items & a home may get one but not another or even lots. They might wrap your house but leave broken windows and doors or not insulate the attic so you still have to run heat as before

This week I asked Tánaiste Simon Harris if long-term unemployed migrants who have never worked in the State despite living here for decades should be allowed to remain. Video coming soon on @GriptMedia.

@rte @RTEBrainstorm Engage a country with a proven record of delivering infrastructure to sort it or at least build another one over the top of it.State & local authorities are restricting traffic flow everywhere creating problems pushing toward the m50 & will then introduce a congestion charge

Fianna Fail TD Seamus McGrath agrees that middle-income earners did not benefit from last year's budget. He said it is something he "regrets". #TonightVMTV "They didn't get the indexation - that's a fact," he said.

Press release: Senator Michael McDowell demands that all Ministers comply with their duty to provide a report to the Houses of the Oireachtas reviewing the functioning of every Act passed by Dáil and Seanad Éireann. Michael McDowell has today written to the Taoiseach and the Secretary General of the Government pointing out that Ministers and departments are totally ignoring their obligations to report on the functioning of legislation one year after its enactment. A copy of his letter is attached. michaelmcdowell.ie/update/senator…

@Nick_Delehanty As Del Amitri famously said “nothing ever happens, the needle returns to the start of the song and they all sing along like before” Martin is going nowhere & will only step away on his terms not to trigger an election and as he says himself “An election is in no one’s interest”

So let me get this straight, lads. You’re saying you voted confidence in a party and a government that you clearly have no confidence in whatsoever. Brilliant. Truly inspiring stuff. There’s something oddly comforting in knowing we’re represented by politicians who can look their voters in the eye, make promises, and then casually vote against them the moment the party whip cracks. Principles? Optional. Backbone? Negotiable. But sure look, why stand by what you told the people who elected you when it’s far easier to nod along, keep the seat warm, and toe the party line.

Sinn Féin@sinnfeinireland·
Really disappointed the Social Democrats and Labour voted yesterday with the Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael government to lock in carbon tax increases every year for the next five years. They also voted against a Sinn Féin proposal to make home heating oil and fuel more affordable. This is madness. We need to bring prices down and not increase them.

@davidmcw @IrishTimes @IrishTimesOpEd There's no free cash. Everything is paid for with taxes. As a nation we need to grow up. Our media doesn't hold FF and FG to account. Their wasteful spending in the last ten years has been insane. There's red flags everywhere. Their ideology and reckless spending is madness

The Do Nothin Government has walked itself into a mess of its own making. Day 3 of the #FuelProtests with positions hardening. Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said fuel supplies here have been "temporarily denied and endangered" by the actions of the protestors. Speaking in Baile Bhuirne, Co Cork, Mr Martin said: "We are ultimately legislators or democrats. We work with properly constituted organisations in terms of debate and engagement. #FuelPrices #CostofLivingCrisis @rtenews #Sixone

@LPerrins Orson Welles famously viewed politicians primarily as actors, stating they are not necessarily "natural crooks" but performers who belong to a "third sex". He believed politics is a form of acting that should ideally reflect a culture's commonly held ideals rather than just lying
