Today, we took the Nova Core critical for the final time. 3 weeks, 10 configurations, and 36 different critical and subcritical tests. Nova has wildly exceeded expectations. I’m so grateful to NCERC, NNSS, and the Valar team. Can’t wait to publish everything we learned!

I’m hiring an Executive Software Engineer. Think of this like a Chief of Staff, but your job is to create technology that allows me to scale and move faster. You’ll work closely with me, my CoS, and the Valar IT/Security teams to rapidly create software and hardware tools under my direction. I'm looking for a general athlete, not a specialist. The more and weirder systems you've built with your own hands, the better; but you need to be well-versed in all the latest and greatest ways of creating things wicked fast (Vercel, Replit, AI coders, etc). You'll be responsible for everything, from front-end design to backend implementation, auth, hosting, maintenance, testing, planning, product ownership, etc. Most importantly you'll have the driver's seat view of and direct impact upon the most important company of our time, working with the greatest team of nuclear builders assembled since the Manhattan Project. I am once again humbled to be working with the Valar Atomics team. This is the smartest, hardest working, and most motivated group of people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I have seen them perform miracles. Together, this team will make the world's energy cheaper.

Today is a historic day for nuclear and for Valar Atomics. But it's only the beginning. The President has ordered 3 advanced reactors on American soil by July 4th. Making power in Ward250 remains our goal for the Pilot Program, and Nova gives us the data we need to move quickly.

We're grateful for the close partnership of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), the National Criticality Experiments Research Center (NCERC) and the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), which all do extremely important work to maintain our nation's nuclear capabilities.

The Nova core is a subset of our Ward250 core, using the same moderator, fuel, and reactivity control. Taking Nova critical gives us real-world data about the characteristics of our geometry and control scheme, and allows us to test our models and simulations against reality.

Today, Valar Atomics became the first startup in history to split the atom. Announcing Project Nova, a series of zero power critical tests on Valar Atomics' Nova Core in collaboration with Los Alamos NCERC and NNSS. Nova went critical for the first time this morning at 11:45am.
