“Historian Bill Gammage’s warning that “fences on the ground make fences in the mind” ring in the ears as shark nets are erected along Australia's coastlines each year.”
For @Co_Power_ , our own Natasha Seymour on Australia’s neverending “shark era”.

Zowie Douglas-Kinghorn on Australia’s new energy crossroads and how “the fight against fracking once again sees the communities on the front lines of the climate crisis.”

I'd think particularly for a low income person 4 days and nearly $200 is crazy.
And yes this pertains to @Co_Power_/@energylocals
I request bills by post because there's no other way I'd see them otherwise.
The only exception is @Optus texting me. I do see that.
@kristin8X So here's a fun one for you. Electricity bill, issued 14 days before due date, takes 10 days to reach me demanding $174 in 4 days......thankfully I've already logged in and realised and handled said bill but you'd have to argue 4 days is basically no notice.
Amidst a period of renewed enthusiasm for nuclear power, Nicholas Herriot takes us on a tour of the social and political history of uranium in Australia, and reflects on its possible futures.
Generously supported by @Co_Power_.

Through our 2023 democratic budget customer members allocated $5,000 to a Digital Experience Fund to improve member experience of CoPower. A working group was formed and meet on the 14 December 2023 making the following recommendations 👇👇👇👇

“This review measures the magnitude of my frustration with the genre.”
To finish the year with a bang, we bring you Scott Robinson's autopsy of Royce Kurmelovs’ SLICK and journalism's approach to the climate crisis. Supported by our friends at @Co_Power_overland.org.au/2024/12/slippe…
Another review in, this time from Tim who found it easy to switch to us and loves the feeling of contributing towards a fairer world with his energy bill!
We stand with striking warehouse at Woolworths (who co-own us). Their fight in the face of inhumane algorithms is part of the struggle for the social control of technology, and human decency in the midst of the climate crisis.

CEO Innes Willox AIG on the Woolies strike: "We can't have unions telling 21st century businesses they have to operate like 19th century businesses - & dictating how they organise and manage work."
They want us to be quiet.
They don’t care for our safety.
They will learn.
This week, we're supporting @EnviroVic (one of our co-owners) in their electrification week of action. Electrification is not a simple market choice, especially for renters.
Check EV's feeds to see how you can get in involved to make structural change!
Here we've sponsored this beautiful piece by Sofia Sabbagh where the artist explores both human connection and forest critters. Check the @OverlandJournal website for the full piece.
Warehouse workers at Lineage in Vic endorsed indefinite strike action now too! They're fighting for fair pay and greater job security.
Oh and guess what? They move stock for @Woolworths. Over 960K cartons every week for 288 stores!
Big week ahead for the supermarket!

On the seventh and last Day of @OverlandJournal Subscriberthon, we are pleased to be sponsoring @wallmansam's latest work — a poster-sized love letter to cycling (and while we're at it, rack off Musk).

In October, we transferred $10K via @apheda to a women's farming cooperative in the West Bank to assist them with getting solar power. This is because our members voted to make it happen. Check our blog for more details on this project.
This is a big part of why I love being with @Co_Power_ for my electricity:
'Last week we transferred $10,000 to Union Aid Abroad (APHEDA)'s for Solar power for a women’s cooperative in Palestine. CoPower members voted to support this through the 2024 Democratic Budget'.
