Ye the chess thing where Magnus could probably get a win with knight odds is kinda important enough to be aware of, because in essence, current alignment techniques are sophisticated ways of giving us odds, via soft-wiring instinctual human friendly behaviours into the models. @allTheYud But ofc real life is signifcantly more complicated, with a lot more room for error and a lot more room for IQ. x.com/CoachApumaYTub…

@64bitmodeling @fchollet Uh, yes..? I don't know why you focus on the constraining condition, as to why we happen to have smaller brains, as opposed to what it would mean for our intelligence, if we did in fact have bigger brains.. which was my point. Either way, ooohh nooo women with wide hips Noooooo

@CoachApumaYTube @fchollet "If human brains were 50% larger, or twice as large, the world would look radically different." True! We'd either be extinct, or women's hips would be twice as wide as they are now.

One of the biggest misconceptions people have about intelligence is seeing it as some kind of unbounded scalar stat, like height. "Future AI will have 10,000 IQ", that sort of thing. Intelligence is a conversion ratio, with an optimality bound. Increasing intelligence is not so much like "making the tower taller", it's more like "making the ball rounder". At some point it's already pretty damn spherical and any improvement is marginal. Now of course smart humans aren't quite at the optimal bound yet on an individual level, and machines will have many advantages besides intelligence -- mostly the removal of biological bottlenecks: greater processing speed, unlimited working memory, unlimited memory with perfect recall... but these are mostly things humans can also access through externalized cognitive tools.

@tszzl i literally had this exact same thought 3 times this week. Us people really are synchronized by the zeitgeist/twitter. I wonder what thoughts and tweets elicited this and for how many people. @tszzl

Well, Crownie is exceptionally smart compared to avg league pro. He can out-argue & out-reason 95% of pro players on his worst day. prob where his ego comes from. I do agree he fucked up on that LR game. My point is I just kinda feel bad throwing salt at what I assume are his burning wounds. Probably should be therapy angle for him or change something. I think we agree on that too.

@AlphaBoby1 Afaik he was rly good, just got fucked over by internal politics. I remember considering him one of the better ADCs in europe when he got benched. It does happen to actors too, that they get fucked over and tilt out of their minds for years

@CoachApumaYTube Hmmh I think getting benched/replaced is normal part of the job, its not like losing a job since this is performance based industry, its similar to not getting another acting job because u were shit actor in a marvel movie

Uhh. this kinda feels like kicking him while he is down @AlphaBoby1 I have 0 idea about why he got benched, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the opposite. Crownie seemed a lot more chill before his LEC shenanigans happened. Obviously these crashouts are bad tough. but it feels needless to say. he knows it too for sure

While I am glad they weren’t forced to sell Riot because it would have been bought by the Saudis, Riot should have been forced to make changes. A Chinese company having root access to every PC a game is installed on should not be legal.

@CoachApumaYTube @allTheYud Experiments have shown that people with plans like this don't actually follow them after they become leaders. One of these experiments is the commandant of the camp - your boss.
