@KaylerSmithTV Defense looks comfortable allowing them to do so. If a HS team is getting pressure they won't hold it for 84 seconds. And yes I'm in favor of a shot clock but don't think this clip shows why.

Here's 84 seconds of a team passing and dribbling in a state championship game. Ohio is one of 18 states that does not utilize a shot clock at the high school level.

@Coach__Strick Second argument that gets me is money. Since guys make more money who cares about women's safety. Got it! Wonder if they are concerned the same way with their daughters going out at night vs their sons?

I mistakenly checked the comments🥴 But they proved my point🤷🏼‍♂️ Plus it’s good for your daughters to see how much the world hates them. Teach them to go be successful anyway🖕 Btw I do appreciate the algorithm mostly only alerting me to comments that I would engage with😅

As a father of 3 daughters, I’m WELL aware of the misogyny in our world and the uphill battle women fight daily for their space in it. Just know the women also complained last week about the court…nothing done🤨 The men complain…

Just imagine how good they could be if they didn’t waste time playing worthless AAU basketball growing up!!

It's not just the matchups. It's also the low quality sites for the lower divisions. Butler High School for DVII: DSJ vs. CCPA - No internet access given to radio broadcaster WDOH - No analyst space for TV broadcaster WOSN - Clock and score issues on NFHS - Late start due to team stuck in traffic - Gym-clearing delay due to pulled fire alarm - "Shots fired" heard on NFHS stream before it suddenly goes down (it was only a false fire alarm) Complete amateur hour

The OHSAA choosing to ruin its wonderful four-division basketball tournament in favor of a watered-down seven-division tournament remains one of the dumbest things it has done — and that’s a high bar to clear.
Brian Kollars@briankollars

Made it to Bowling Green. Jonathan Alder knocked out Van Wert 63-45 in the opener, Perkins takes on Lima Bath at about 8:30. The crowd is … well, it doesn’t exactly scream “regional.” The OHSAA could add a few more divisions and any gym in the state could host a Sweet 16 game!

@CortSmith78 It’s so frustrating. Noticed it the other day on a different broadcast as well. Take 5 minutes to talk to a fan from each team and learn about the teams and how to pronounce names

Whoever is announcing the NFHS feed for Delphos St John’s has no idea who the players are on the roster. It’s embarrassing.

@ColdwaterSB @MartinRPI The NW won't change and run their tournament like the rest as far as super sectionals go. That is the crazy part that the state runs a tournament and isn't ran the same in each district.

@MartinRPI Bigger issue is how District tournaments are run (NW). I don’t mind 7 divisions. But, having 3 teams ranked in the top 8 in the same District is a problem (2025 Softball D6 Wapak District). That district had 106 wins & 60% WP compared to another district with 55 wins & 40% WP.

I’ll admit I’m late to the party here as an early supporter of 7 divisions. I let it play out for a couple years & I’ve done a full 180. Preaching to the choir for most of you, but there’s teams playing at Regionals this week that wouldn’t make it out of Sectionals in 4 divisions. Going to the 9 Regional games at BGSU was one of the best weeks of the year for me for the last 15 years—my excitement level for the 9 games there this week is nonexistent. Some of these games I’d put 30-pt spreads on. District Final Saturday used to be the best day of the tournament, now it’s littered with blowouts. OHSAA has completely ruined it.

Not being to have #1 team @DSJBasketball game on a tv app either NFHS or Hudl is absolutely crazy by the @OHSAASports ... be nice if everything would just be streamed on 1 app so it's easy to find.

Seen too many discussions on X to know I’m never convincing a fan of anything🤷🏼‍♂️ Bigger problem is coaches/trainers who teach kids, that don’t understand this is a legal step thru move that’s been in existence since the dribble was created🤦🏼‍♂️ Follow @StepThroughJoe. It’ll help
Bret Strelow@bretstrelow

I don't care what the NBA allows, or how rules language gets interpreted ... Dribbling, picking up your dribble, using your right foot as your pivot foot, getting stuck and getting out of trouble only by lifting that foot to push off the other foot should not be allowed.

If you really want to be good at basketball, it’s simple, be a relentless worker and love the game. Like work on your game everyday. That saying, “when you’re not working someone else is” is true! The best players are the best workers and truly love the game of basketball 💯

Basketball coaches: give this a read.
Jack Little@jacklitt1e

One of the biggest mistakes coaches make.... Trying to correct an error by giving a solution. In this study, they had two groups. Group 1: Given a solution to fix their error. Group 2: Told to exaggerate their error. Then did a swing with no instruction. Group 2 had better results and a better retention rate. Why? As a coach we want to give the solution because: 1. They feel helpful and they genuine think they're helping. 2. It seems like the fastest way to get an effect. However the brain doesn't work that way. We learn best by working to solve the problem. So by leaning into an error the athlete experiences the incorrect technique to a more exaggerated degree. Then they are able to self correct. In other words: they felt the incorrect technique and self-regulated into the correct technique. This is more effective because they worked to come up with solution. I use this example often but if I give you the asnwer to a math problem -- you may be able to tell me that specific math problem answer but it doesn't make you better at math! You won't be any better off with another problem. If I make you solve it-- you get better at math and will be better off if I give you a problem you've never seen before. And that is how we come to the crux of learning -- giving an environment that allows the athlete to solve a problem, struggle...fail, and self-regulate to find the solution. How can you apply this to training?
