First GK gloves and most recent. Between uses, I learned about myself, being a good teammate, and making friends. Today’s soccer system excludes many kids, so I joined Tim Ryerson and Get on the Bus to help kids with financial/transport barriers play soccer. #GivingTuesday"
Undefeated. Division Champs. Those are great accomplishments. But it’s the bond that this group has that makes it special. When a new (to our club) player tells her Dad, “Dad, this team is different. They love each other.” Those are the Ws that matter.
(Oh and ice cream)
@StephenChaconas@jc_playmakerWNY I hope that it all works out for your athletes. What I saw over my teaching career was we wanted kids (especially athletes) to give up more and more of the things normal kids do.
@CoachBouss@jc_playmakerWNY Those kids are typically insulated and don’t participate in sports in our state and region.
I work with “elite” soccer players daily and the home school, hybrid school (2 days out 3 days in school), and private school demographic is fast catching up with public.
How many of you coach ELITE athletes that choose to Homeschool?
I think the secret to a lot of youth elite athletes is homeschooling.
BIG in Florida and California I know.
@jc_playmakerWNY@BubbaChuck33 Never said it was. I’ve been involved in education for 30+ years. I’ve seen kids go to schools with awful teachers and it negatively impacted them, I’ve also seen kids homeschooled with weak curriculum/instruction, and that negatively impacted them.
@CoachBouss@BubbaChuck33 It’s not 1995 anymore where the parents are doing the teaching.
It’s all online with actual courses with teachers. The same as many online college courses.
@BubbaChuck33@jc_playmakerWNY I think that’s great and I wish your daughter nothing but the best. Hopefully she can equal or surpass her peers on AP exams and SATs so that if the soccer route doesn’t work out she’s got a plan B.
@jc_playmakerWNY@CoachBouss My daughter chose to homeschool for that's exact reason, she can finish a public school day of work in about 3-4 hours and use all the extra time to train and do other hobbies.
@CoachBouss That’s a stereo type though. Hearing nearly entire ECNL and MLSNext players in the bigger states are homeschooled.
Allows for more training and actually, more days off.
@jc_playmakerWNY They do that in lacrosse and people actually hold their kids back multiple years so they can be the biggest player on the team. Probably wouldn’t be as big of a problem in soccer (more kids play). No system is perfect. I prefer grade level
Little conflicted in the DMV today. Grew up Skins fan in the 80s, married into a Ravens family (Johnny U) was at our wedding. Snyder years made the transition easy. Rooting for the Ravens but nice to see DC be competitive again.
