@PaulSpacey Mu Freshman year of HS, I was 4'11" and weghed 100 pounds. I graduated at 5'8" and 130 pounds.
I was the only one from my first HS that went on to play college soccer.

But at 5’9” and 160lbs he’s too small and too skinny to be a real athlete.

This is such a terrible take. Our team is already as equally athletic or more athletic than the top 10 teams in the world. Athleticism is not the issue.
Culture is, and always will be, the issue. As long as we have a closed system, 1,000 different leagues, and 3 hour drives for tournaments for our youth... then this is where we max out.
One day we may climb to the round of 8 if schedule favors us, but this is who we are. We are around 15th in the world at soccer, and that's where we will stay.

US Soccer is not ready for primetime. I dont wanna be mean but this team is embarrassing. We’re never gonna actually be good at this sport as long as out D tier athletes play it. What a clown show

This is a terrible take. The role of a father in the birth of a child is not "symbolic". My wife had to undergo an emergency c-section and my daughter initially came out not breathing. The husband/father could have many quick or difficult decisions to make if things become complicated.

Ok, so you have a different value structure to your life. Perhaps one day you will understand.
There are 3 people in this world that matter more to me than anything in the world... and yes, it's an unimportant game. It's a child's game.
I'm not concerned about the opinions of all of those other people. The other players, the fans, the staff... only 3 people matter. My wife, and my children.

@TexasCoachMike What you call just a game, it's also people's life invested in years, the whole country trusted you to represent, the quit just to be present for a day that your whole job is to make someone feel better, which is also not a guarantee for safe delivery. I call that weakness.
