@oilrigEDM Whichever one can teach them team defense and a defensive system. Leon and Connor create enough offense alone.

Sorry but Knoblauch did talk of analytics often when talking to media. So he knew their importance. Now did he disagree sometimes with what analytics people were telling his eyeballs. Like a lot of coaches who aren’t slaves to analytics
The Mug NHL@TheMugNHL

Kris Knoblauch flat out ignored analytics & fought back against management when suggestions, brought to him by evidence of analytics, came from the top. He ignored them all, wasn’t open-minded whatsoever, so Dreger trying to say he “leans heavily” on them is unequivocally false.

.... and just like that it's a tied again between Canada and Sweden. Mattias Ekholm makes it 3-3. #MensWorlds

Did Connor McDavid grow up a die hard Leafs fan? Yes. Was his bedroom a self-described a shrine to the Leafs? Yes. Was Mats Sundin his idol? Yes. Did he say being a Maple Leaf would be an absolute dream come true? Yes. Did he sign a 2-year extension to put Edmonton on the clock? Yes. Did he recently say the organization has taken a step back? Yes. Is this a serious blow to Edmonton's chances of keeping him? Yes. Should Edmonton trade him within a year if they know he's going to walk? Yes. Is it at all possible either side would look to expedite that process given where the team's at? Yes. Would a trade with Toronto likely be Edmonton's only chance at getting a 1st overall pick back in a return for McDavid? Yes. Is winning a Stanley Cup in Toronto the white whale of the NHL? Yes. Gun to his head, if you asked Connor McDavid the two places he'd want to win a Stanley Cup the most, is there good reason to believe his answer would be Edmonton & Toronto? Yes. Are Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews buddies? Yes. Do they have the same agent? Yes. Would it be awkward owning 50 Wendy's restaurants while your team's two best players shoot McDonald's commercials? Yes. Would adding Connor McDavid instantly catapult the Leafs into the playoffs? Yes. Is there more work that would need to be done to solidify the Leafs as legit contenders? Yes. Is it possible Connor's top priorities today would disqualify the Maple Leafs as a potential destination? Yes. Should anything listed above be considered evidence that Connor McDavid is going to be a Maple Leaf at any point in his career? No. You can disagree or say it won't happen, but you can't deny any basis for the speculation. I'd be shocked if it happened. Just like I was shocked when the 12 ball popped up.
Neutral Zone Checks@NeutralZoneChek

@mcclusk What brings you to the conclusion that McDavid has "always" had Toronto at the back of his mind? Outside of Eastern media constantly pushing this, has McDavid ever said anything to suggest that? I don't think so.

Knoblauch coached 233 Oilers games with .624 winning percentage in regular season and 53 more in playoffs going 31-22. Coach before him Jay Woodcroft coached 133 games with .643 winning percentage. And yet both got fired. This is organizational dysfunction

@HernanDaMan Knobs was incompetent. He knew one playstyle and that was just rush. He completely mishandled his bottom 6 constantly juggling them so they didn't develop chemistry and when they did, he'd juggle them again. He also refused to reward players who played well

A new coach, sure, why not, it’s the norm in Edmonton, same old same old! But How the owner of the Oilers continues to have faith in Jackson/Bowman is F’in mind boggling! Oilers fans should be terrified with these two running the biggest offseason! ⏰⏰⏰ Back to the Osh! 🌊
