I think I had Calvin 10th on my preseason ballot, likely the highest of any voter. You can clearly see 4 of their best 5 performances were when the team was at full strength. Over 56 games over the past two years, we've seen them really healthy for perhaps 15 games, and those two stretches from 2/12/2025-3/7/2025 & 11/14/2025-12/30/2025 was what they were capable of.

The folks who thought highly of our group at the start of the year were not wrong. We just never got to see the group intact over time. Our team battled, adapted and demonstrated a resolve that will be beneficial for all of us moving forward. I am grateful to be their coach.

Rick Barnes made a great point tonight, and it's something that makes so much sense but I'd never thought of it in that exact way. Barnes said one of the biggest keys to any team's improvement during the season is the work ethic of those 3-4 guys on every team who probably don't play as many minutes as they should. He said if those guys are maniacs every day in practice and consistently push the main rotation guys, a team will get better.
