Me: I believe organizations need a Skill ACQ Specialist on staff to help design more representative practice activities that sets the tone for the emergence of skill that transfers to the game NFL: don’t worry, the position coaches have it covered The drills…

Should you delay your caffeine intake 2 hours after waking to avoid the afternoon crash? Science says NO. A recent review combed the data and found no evidence this works. One of the proposed mechanisms (adenosine clearance) was found "scientifically inaccurate"

Eat a minimum of 25-40g of protein per meal. If you eat more protein you’ll experience more satiety and be less hungry in the evening. Most people skip breakfast and have too small of a lunch and a huge dinner then are always ravenous. Balanced meals = balanced blood sugar and stable energy levels with no cravings. You’d be surprised how little you’ll crave sugar and salt when you actually prioritize sufficient protein and produce at meals. Change your lifestyle and you’ll change your life!

The goal of MS athletics should be skill acquisition, fun, and developing a love for the game. MS age is when social insecurity starts to rise. They have to learn emotional regulation. Confidence comes from acquiring skill and having fun.

The fact that I had a HS strength coach reach out to have me share my thoughts with his admin on why his Head 🏈 Coach shouldn’t be doing “German Volume Training” IN SEASON after the qualified S and C professional had them in class during the day…shows you how clueless and dangerous allowing unqualified coaches to do this job is. 6x10 cleans and 6x10 back squats and 6x10 deadlifts? Well at least he cut back from the 10x10 🤷‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ Lucky for the kids Admin shut this down after the S and C coach made every attempt to make the 🏈 coach understand how awful this plan is. I told him that if I was his Principal I’d take the football coach’s keys to the weight room and never allow him to lift another kid. Pathetic.

“I can’t eat enough protein or carbs.” Here’s roughly 43g of protein and 60g of carbs that requires zero cooking and can be consumed in < 10-min. Student athletes trying to gain weight here is a great breakfast that you can add a slice of peanut butter toast with and you’re on your way to gaining!

There was a clear difference in the Texas A&M / ND game tonight that doesn't show up in the box score. Cramping. All summer we heard Notre Dame has to prepare for the Texas heat... Yet I didn't see a white jersey on the ground getting stretched out. Instead we saw a lot of maroon laying on the ground, yelping in pain, clutching their legs. Why? Both teams drink their Gatorade, they get their electrolytes in. What's the difference? First game cramps are NOT. A HYDRATION ISSUE. They are an intensity issue. If your body is not prepared for the intensity of a game, that's where you see cramps become an issue. It's a neuromuscular fatigue issue. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9232553/ If you run practices at 50-80% speed, that's what you've prepared your body for. If you try to then go into a game and play at 100% for a full 60 minutes... You won't last. You'll cramp up. When fatigue sets in, bad things happen. TL;DR: Cramps aren't just a hydration issue. It's a neuromuscular fatigue problem. If you don't want to cramp up in a game: prepare your body to handle game like intensity.

“Athlete the lower, Bodybuild the upper” I think it sounds good, but athlete the lower AND upper sounds even better to me What does “athlete” mean?? Low rep sets, for 1-3 reps per set driving total tonnage for 18-36 total reps & RMs on bilateral and unilateral exercises

For the life of me I do not understand why a select youth sports team from Seattle has to fly to Vegas or Atlanta to play in a 3-day tournament against teams from different states. Does it make you feel good to say, “we spent $2,000 in travel expenses to go 2-2 in tournament play, losing to the team that was second runner up from Tallahassee.” Save your time, money and ego. There is plenty of competition right here in your backyard.

@StrengthDebates I would add, criticize vs asking the “why” behind what they are doing is key. If they get offended by asking why vs wanting to educate them I’d criticize or at the very least be skeptical.

The 4-7-8 breathing method is a powerful relaxation technique designed by Dr. Andrew Weil. There has been references to Navy Seals soldiers using this while under stress. It's free, simple, can be done anywhere, and helps you fall asleep. Here's how it works:
