As an AD, I implemented a strength program where every athlete lifts in season with their current team. I challenged coaches to scientifically prove it was not beneficial. No one could.
It eliminated the tug of war over athletes and reinforced what we believe.

Exactly why I just posted some people will have pushback on the new S & C bill that's just getting started in South Carolina. Everybody won't be in favor of a certified prof. in those roles.
It's the most important arena of HS sports. It should be the foundation for everything!

Every HS administrator/coach I’ve spoken to tells me they “have a guy/gal”. There’s a huge difference between having SOMEONE and having a PROFESSIONAL run your weight room. Be careful who you trust

Groundbreaking legislation - Bill H 4743 - has been filed in SC to require S&C certifications for coaches/teachers in weight rooms!

This is a major step toward safe S&C programming for students ….but there has to be further action for the bill to move forward. The bill needs to reach the committee level.
Once on the committee level, there will be revisions and more discussion. But a monumental first step!
Maybe this can serve as a roadmap for other states!

Should be no different for coaches working in weight rooms. Which again, is the most dangerous classroom on a schools campus!

@LouatTheState In the instance of Beckham, the high school leagues geographical fit rule creates a competitive imbalance. Beckham has 4A enrollment but because of where they are located they have to play up in 5A? Common sense should prevail.

Every time I see these videos I think 2 things:
1. It’s not the kids’ fault. They are doing as they’re taught. Hate when people jump in the comments to tear them down.
2. All weight rooms SHOULD have a qualified, experienced, and certified strength coach. 🙏🤞for the future.
