Congratulations to MSHS varsity baseball head coach, @CoachFlip13, for being one of the five coaches named Coach of the Year for Class 3A Baseball by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association. DiFilippo led the 2024 Bulldogs to a 28-9 record, capturing the Apollo Conference title, a regional title, and the program’s first sectional since 2000. DiFilippo stated, “This is a program award for all of the hard work put in by the coaches and players.” At the annual IHSBCA state conference, DiFilippo had many people tell him that MSHS baseball is now a 3A powerhouse program. “This would not be the case without my coaches, players, and administration supporting our efforts, starting at the junior high level all the way up to the high school level.” Congratulations, Coach DiFilippo and the entire baseball program! Great Infielders have extraordinary internal clocks, moxie and feel.
They always know how much time they have.
Taking ground balls with the stopwatch is an outstanding tool.
Fungo to first baseman's glove in 4.1 or better is standard.
Knowing exactly what it takes to be 4.1 or better sets the baseline.
Then adjust based on runner in games.

Varsity @MSBulldogBS cruises to a 16-1 win over PBL. The Bulldogs move to 5-1 on the season.
@maxyoung2026 got the start and the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. The sophomore, in his first varsity start, allowed only two hits, one run, zero ER, and had eight strikeouts.
The offense backed up the great pitching performance with 12 hits and three home runs.
@Gavin_Bailey12 was the first to go yard, and @FinchTyson followed him with a dinger of his own in the same inning. Both 2-run shots. @Nolan_Johnson21 had a 3-run home run.
@RayL1932 continued his hot streak, going 2-4 at the plate with three RBI. Johnson and Bailey each had three RBI. @FinnRandolph added two RBI.
The Bulldogs are back in action at home tomorrow against SJO. They will also have two home games this Saturday (11 a.m. and 3 p.m.).
