@Gregg_Sarra I was lucky enough to be a very young coach at Bellport for that game. Was an incredible experience. We went up because we could not get a non league game on LI that season. U-E was a great program and had some amazing players. We were better! Great memory!

We also saw Bellport dominate what was once thought to be an unbeatable Union-Endicott. We'll never know unless Long Island joins the state tournament. I've watched teams play upstate and the attendance at the Carrier Dome is nothing like Hofstra or Stony Brook. It's abysmal.

@Gregg_Sarra The justifications have included LI kids have summer jobs unlike upstate (not true), our school year ends later so we can't start earlier (not true), money to sections (not true)...saw North Rockland beat St. A's in '94 and said...ummm no thanks (true) lol

The LI schedules don’t match the state football schedules because we start a week later. LI teams would have to start postseason play earlier and schedules overall would be shorter to accommodate state playoffs. Maybe lose a game .

Doesn't benefit anyone but it does set up some different matchups - which I like. Everyone should be in favor of a non league cross over week or playing an opponent from outside the region. Adds a little spice and takes people out of the comfort zone.

@Gregg_Sarra Just my opinion Greg , but if this is confirmed , it doesn’t benefit Sayville or league 4. I understand the enrollment numbers are black and white , and you can only play who’s on the schedule , but at some point a big picture look is needed here.
