The idea that North Carolina can afford to pay Hubert Davis $5 million to leave and Arizona $9 million for Lloyd's buyout before they've given him a penny in salary or a dime for his roster seems very far fetched to me, to put it mildly.

Weird… a sitting House Representative should understand the basics of constitutional war powers… right? Yes, Congress holds the authority to declare war. But the President is the Commander in Chief, charged with directing military operations and protecting US interests. Again, weird that I have to explain this to a sitting congressman… As you know, strategic strikes, limited military actions, and rapid response operations have long fallen within executive authority, particularly when tied to existing congressional authorizations such as the 2001 and 2002 AUMFs. Did you forget about those? Those authorizations were deliberately broad (and did I mention already approved by Congress?), empowering the President to act against designated threats without returning to Congress for every missile launch or special operations raid. This is not theory; it is decades of precedent under administrations from both parties (except maybe the stupid Libertarian nonsense you believe in). Your grandstanding is not only dangerous, but it is also telling, as “confusing” the need for a formal declaration of war with tactical and operational military authority shows how unserious you actually are as a representative. You are quite literally failing to grasp the separation of powers (that you love to throw in everyone’s face) and the practical realities of modern warfare. But… hey, you get to look yourself in the mirror, yet again, and tell yourself how principled you are while hundreds of thousands are murdered in the streets by a regime intent on watching America burn. What a model character you are.

@ABarrnette2748 @GBNT1952 Furthermore, under the AUMF, the President has broad powers as the Commander in Chief. Obama used those same AUMF's to launch targeted drone strikes when he was President. Not a single Declaration of War was given to grant Obama the authority.

@GBNT1952 The AUMF of 2001 was for use against “those responsible for 9/11.” Was Iran responsible for 9/11? Was even a single one of the hijackers Iranian? The AUMF of 2002 was for use against Iraq. Is Iraq Iran?

BREAKING: The Senate just passed SB 5855, @SenValdez46th's bill to bar law enforcement from wearing face coverings. In the United States, federal agents are roaming around with masks. We just can't get used to that. This bill must move quickly to my desk so I can sign it into law.

I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

Our local law enforcement, mayors, and community leaders all agree: The best way to restore order and safety in Minnesota is for ICE to leave our streets.  This Administration is escalating rather than de-escalating and it needs to stop.

The administration is sending 1,000 more ICE agents to Minnesota. That's over 3,000 federal agents flooding our streets, almost triple the combined police forces of Minneapolis and St. Paul. ICE is sowing chaos in our communities. They need to get off our streets immediately.
