@tnoieNDI Does no one want to be at ND bc they love ND? I get the money component, but it’s the same in the business world, money is just a component of happiness.

Source: Expect Notre Dame's roster - from a numbers standpoint - to look a lot like it did when Shrewsberry arrived from Penn State in 2023. That year, the Irish had three returning scholarship players. They may have three returning in 2026-27.

Source: @NDmbb coach Micah Shrewsberry is not a finalist for the Butler University coaching job. There is no dialogue with Butler, nothing behind the scenes with anyone from Butler. Shrewsberry will return for his fourth year at Notre Dame. Maybe too a fifth, sixth and seventh.

@swflskier18 I disagree! If they feel like losing a couple of games won’t hurt their playoff chances, they may see the value in scheduling tougher games to boost their resume against others in the league

This is awful. Expanding the playoff has done exactly what we feared most, diminishing the importance of the regular season. Teams won’t play big games for the fear of missing the playoffs. Expanding will only make this worse.

NEW: An internal Big Ten document explores a 24-team College Football Playoff. It offers a peek at what that model could look like, as another off-season of CFP discussion is set to unfold. Details here: espn.com/college-footba…

No one that condemned Tomlin for the last 10 years gets to say ANYTHING about the Steelers’ recent hire. You’re all a joke.

@FightOnRusty They played in 3 “bowl games” alone last year. How do you try and convince competitors that the Pop Tarts Bowl is a valuable experience after having played in the Sugar, Orange and title game last season? If it’s a historic bowl at a historic venue, maybe it’s a different choice

If you think bowl games are just "participation trophies" you don't understand college football. It's development of your young guys. It's playing time for your next group of starters. It's storylines to carry you into the offseason.
Tyler Horka@tbhorka

A society comfortable ripping on participation trophy culture is ripping Notre Dame for shoving a participation trophy out of its face. You don't care ND isn't playing in a bowl game. You just don't like ND—and the Fighting Irish making a stand. Column: on3.com/teams/notre-da…

@Dr_JWill They also played in the ORANGE BOWL! A historic bowl game with great tradition and mystic. ND opted out of the POPTARTS Bowl at Camping World Stadium lol prior to the playoff, this was reserved for 4th or 5th place teams in conferences

A reminder that when Georgia was snubbed of a playoff spot, they proceeded to have hardly any players opt out and beat another borderline playoff team 63-3 in their bowl game. THATS how you send a message. Not whatever this is.

@975Hans What does beating a team that also got snubbed prove, especially when ND is the higher ranked team and a team that a majority of analysts thought were legit national title contenders? I completely see BYU’s point, but they are very different perspectives on the game

The thing that bugs me about Notre Dame opting out? I feel like BYU wants to prove they were snubbed and a win over Notre Dame would’ve gone a long way to do that. Notre Dame has no interest in proving they should’ve been in. I hope the committee remembers this.

@BobbyRobert99 @bruce_straughan Why is the rational decision to play in a meaningless exhibition game and risk injury? This isn’t the 80’s anymore were these bowl games are a fabric of the sport! The sport has totally changed, players get paid, can transfer multiple times. The old bowl system is over.

“Hey kids, when you don’t get what you want in life, pout about it, take your ball, and go him” - horrible life lesson here This is more disappointing for the seniors who don’t get one more chance to put their uniform on and represent Notre Dame and will never play football again Or how about the fan base who would enjoy seeing ND in person perhaps close to their home? Don’t agree with this call
Pete Nokos@PeteNokos_

BREAKING: Notre Dame will not accept a bowl bid, per source Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua said the program is “extremely disappointed” and will now shift its focus toward preparing for next season.

10-2 Notre Dame opting out of a bowl solely because it missed the playoff might actually be the thing that starts to tear down the high end of the bowl system.

@MattLeinartQB How do you convince a bunch of kids that were recruited to play for national titles and are now paid to do so, so to risk injury for an exhibition game that doesn’t enhance their chance to win a national title?

The @CFBPlayoff is honoring the H2H between Oklahoma and Alabama in a game OU was outgained by nearly 200 yards, but the H2H between Miami and Notre Dame in a game Miami never trailed is basically irrelevant. Got it.

Miami beats Virginia Tech 34-17 on the road but the only thing anyone will be talking about is “style points.” Why did the game become so sloppy and disjointed, and was a double digit win enough for the Hurricanes today?

I can't wait until tomorrow when people claim the stadium was maybe 60 percent Notre Dame fans!!! It is the dumbest narrative every time WVU, PSU or ND comes to town. They will have maybe 20-25 percent of the stadium at most.
