Advice to a first time Head Coach that I recently gave:
Unsolicited advice from being a head coach at 2 different places:
1 where I followed a legend who turned the program around and was well loved by EVERYONE (I was on his staff)
1 one where dude was fired for being 2-18, 0-10.
BE YOU!!!
Know yourself, be yourself.
Hold to YOUR standards that YOU believe in, regardless of the previous HC.
You'll NEVER please people who liked the last guy.
You'll ALWAYS please people who didn't.
There is no winning that battle.
So, just be YOU!!

I’ve seen HS teams not even put a Punt Returner back there.

High school football coaches might have the most important job in any community and it’s overlooked. They set the culture for the largest group of young men in a school. If they build good men, not just wins, that ripple hits families, schools, and the whole community.

Barstow!! SS doesn't win as many titles as some other sections BECAUSE of the competitive equity system we use. It ain't the SD Section where 2 wins can win you a Championship. It's a 4 week gauntlet. Few sections do what SS does.

As a former Head Coach in CA I was paid cents an hour! Stipends are a joke! Our impact and why we coach, severely outweighs our compensation! AD’s and Principals are a joke as far as decision makers! @chriscfore @PAGMETER @TheRealCoach_JB Give us a platform!
