Oh I do think they can of course they can. And Nieto is a great coach, one of the best, no question about that. But at the level we’re comparing? That’s where it changes. Resource wise, it’s not the same. Even the best high school coach can only do so much without the time, staffing, facilities, and year-round structure that higher levels or elite programs have. That’s not a knock on coaching it’s just reality. And I’m specifically comparing Ganesha. That’s a completely different situation than a place like La Salle. These programs are just different in terms of OVERALL development.

@CoachJessem @Wallbanger40 You don’t think a high school coaching staff can challenge, correct or develop the right way. Look at someone like Nieto at La Salle, coached at USC, he’s not capable?

No one else focuses on development, only 1 program!

@SGVNSports @Wallbanger40 Just competing against each other doesn’t automatically make you better especially if nobody is being challenged, corrected, or developed the right way. Iron sharpens iron only when there’s intentional development behind it, not just games on a schedule.

@CoachJessem @Wallbanger40 I disagree that players stay the same there. They continue to develop from summer, fall and through high school competition. Nearly every high level travel ball player is in high school and they compete against each other and make each other better

Oh for sure. I just believe some schools collect talent and it wins games. Players stay the same through there time there. Ganesha and Jared and even Coach Wallace do so much more regarding the development aspect strength, speed and mental development. I get what you’re saying I just think it’s fine to a deeper more detailed level.

@CoachJessem @Wallbanger40 high school baseball coaching is pretty good. I don’t agree that travel ball coaches are necessarily better. All depends on situation I guess.

Being a youth baseball parent is hard. My 7-year-old loves the game—wants to train all the time. Talked to a dad whose son just went through the travel ball gauntlet… all the names, programs, connections. Felt the FOMO… Then it hit me—we don’t need to chase everything.
