@coachbrucepearl @A1Policy The ncaa has progress toward degree rules. There was prior to Covid graduation rates which were published for each coach. Perhaps we enforce the rules as they are written and have penalties for schools who have a low graduation rate. Would have to agree on formula for going pro.

At this point we have two options to save intercollegiate athletics. Congress gives the NCAA anti trust protections to make the old system work which is unfair to student athletes OR we have collective bargaining. The longer we wait, the more it costs everyone @A1Policy

@WinterSportsLaw Any good examples of true collective bargaining where unions were not involved? Also would be extremely challenging to get whole division 1 presidents to agree on terms. May work if power 4 “break away” but still a challenging process.

Another college coach acknowledges that a model with collective bargaining is needed if the goal is enforceable rules on eligibility, compensation, etc.

Not too long ago, today was the official first day of practice around the country. Some teams would practice at midnight but today was the first time the entire team was able to work out together. No summer access only 4 players involved in individual workouts pre season.

@DanMurphyESPN So if we are going to limit coaches salaries let’s also limit the number of private equity professionals allowed on board of trustees at schools. Or is that different? Let the schools and conferences make decisions on their own. Free market capitalism. Need less legislation!

@SportsLawGuy @KnightAthletics There was a time that a coach was a restricted earnings coach. The ncaa lost that lawsuit as well. You can’t limit or restrict people’s earnings. Institutions can do that on their own without an act of congress.

I am so devastated to share that I have torn my left ACL and meniscus. I will be undergoing surgery and planning to return to the sport I love so much ASAP.
