Far too many high school athletes think their college years will be their “best” years…only to realize years later they were living them!

Random thought: Indiana has a site like John Harrell that keeps track of everything for HS basketball and football. What does baseball have? 🤔

These 93 young men committed themselves this offseason to developing into being the best players & teammates they can be. Not all will be rostered this spring but all should be recognized! “Who you become as a result of the chase is the most important thing.” #Millerball

Lou Holtz looking back at life: "How lucky I am to be married to the person I am, to be in the country we have, to have the children we have... I don't think you live your life in regrets... you can be happy or sad, that's your choice. I choose to be happy." Rest in Peace 🙏

@nkw36 @CTrinkle23 That would require feedback other than just a 19-0 vote against by the IHSAA. As it stands they prefer the inequity of the current format over the equity of the proposed…

I guess we are just going to continue jam 7 & 8 team baseball sectionals into 5 days & pretend it’s a fair tournament.

@siefdogg @TigerBaseball17 If pitching matched. How is it fair a team is throwing their #1 vs #3 in championship b/c a side of the bracket got an extra day rest. Pitch count rules (which are good) constrain. 44% of all sectionals 1A-3A have 7 or 8 teams. There is no way to conduct a fair tourn in 5 days

@GowagsKyle Exactly. I think some of the best never limit their toolkit because someone told them it was 'too much.' They consume everything, then trust their instincts when it's go time. Preparation and killer instinct aren't opposites.

"Anybody that's super data hungry probably is not a good player. It's way more about being a competitor." Being data-driven and a fierce competitor are NOT mutually exclusive. The best in the game use data as a weapon, not a crutch.

Adjustments: •Play-in games are regional and take travel into consideration. Could limit how far a team has to travel. •Tournament starts with pockets of 4 - the highest seed gets to host a Friday/Saturday opening weekend. Rewards teams for being higher seeds. • sweet 16 and beyond is at neutral sites. Bring back Hinkle and college locations for Regionals/Semi-States

I used AI to build an Indiana 4A basketball tournament bracket in minutes. All 82 teams. Play-in games. 4 regions. Seeded by Sagarin rankings just like the NCAA Tournament. Fishers. Pike. Plainfield. Carmel. Four #1 seeds. Would you like to see the tournament formatted like this? @JohnRHarrell @KyleNeddenriep

@GowagsKyle I’ve often wondered if this is the most overrated activity we do before a game. Getting live balls off the bat is probably more valuable than the actual 12-18 pre-game on field swings.

It’s time to give each sport its own properly fitted tournament format. We can do better than forcing 5 very different sports into the same structure just because the # of enrollment classifications match and they’re all labeled “team sports.” One size does not fit all.
