I’m looking to make connections with 2026s and coaches from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan! Here at Cottey my girls get an opportunity to apply for a scholarship that is based out of the state they are from and I’m currently looking to make connections with those states!

Getting Ready for a Recruiting Call? Here’s How to Nail It 🔥🥎 Phone calls with college coaches are a BIG part of the recruiting process—and a great chance to leave a strong impression. Here’s how to get prepared: 1. Do Your Homework: Know the school, the program, and the coach. Be ready to show that you’ve done your research. 2. Set the Scene: Quiet place. Good service. Charged phone. Notebook ready. 3. Be Ready to Talk About YOU: Coaches want to hear about more than just stats. Be prepared to share your goals, personality, and softball story. 4. Ask Smart Questions: Don’t just answer—ask. Some ideas: •“What are you looking for in this recruiting class?” •“What’s your coaching style?” •“How do players balance school and softball?” 5. Be Yourself: Be confident, respectful, and honest. Show your love for the game and your desire to grow. 6. Follow Up: Send a thank-you message after the call. It matters! ⸻ Recruiting is a two-way street. Use these calls to learn, connect, and show who you are—on and off the field.

Recruits, don’t sleep on NAIA softball. It’s where you’ll find elite competition, real playing time, and a chance to make an immediate impact. Big dreams aren’t limited to big divisions. 🥎 #NAIASoftball #NextLevelOpportunity @SoftballPortal

If you’re a freshman/sophomore non-starter at a D1 with little to no stats and you enter the portal… What exactly are you expecting? An upgrade? A lateral move? A downgrade? No stats = No résumé. The market determines your value, not your ego.

Too many athletes get caught up chasing the label instead of the opportunity. Yes, D1 gets the spotlight—but playing college softball at any level is an incredible accomplishment. It’s a chance to keep competing, to grow as a player and person, and to continue doing what you love while earning a degree. Every level offers something unique. What matters most is finding the right fit—a program that values you, a team where you can thrive, and a school that supports your academic and athletic goals. Don’t let ego or comparison steal the joy from your journey. If you have the heart, the work ethic, and the love for the game, then any level of college softball is a blessing. Keep grinding. Stay humble. Be open-minded. And remember—this is your dream, not someone else’s standard.

Last thing I’ll say, winners want to win. Pressure is a privilege, it shouldn’t feel crippling. Being competitive means wanting your name called when the game is on the line.. and the people that work while they wait don’t feel anxious because they know the work they put in!
