@langstonwertzjr @DallasSweet Ask the board how many possessions in North Carolina HS BB exceed 35 sec, I’d imagine not many. The shot clock ensures players a full 32 minute of play, especially the final 4. Creates more competitive games Trust me, I could train a clock operator in 15 minutes, it’s not hard

The arguments against the clock today felt personal to me from many board members and they are almost always about what’s right for the kids. I think if you surveyed players, they would overwhelmingly be for the clock. I get the financial concerns but never is the right time. Sometimes you just figure it out.

The shot clock in NC high school basketball will have to wait....again. The NCHAA Board of Directors voted against a proposal to allow a shot clock to be used during scrimmages, invitational tournament and special events next season. Use of the shot clock would’ve been voluntary by participating schools. Currently, 32 states use a shot clock nationally. There was a pretty vigorous discussion among board members about using the shot clock with some asking how many schools had a clock or the personnel to run it. One member said if a clock was made mandatory, it could cost schools $5,000 to $6,000 dollars to install them, plus training for a person to use it.
