Watching the French Open highlight show on TNT, Isner, Querrey, Wozniacki, Riske, Rubin, Mary Joe etc etc With all due respect to talking heads. I’d much rather get my insights & reporting from former or even current players!

@College10sFan3 I don’t disagree at all with your premise it just didn’t even remotely work out that way for me! But I understand I am the exception & not the rule.

If you think these school are actually losing money instead of just using their athletic department to wrote things off to make it look like theyre a non-profit, I have a bridge to sell you. These schools arent losing money.
JMann_@JMannsTakes

Over 415 athletic programs have shut down, merged or downsized to avoid massive debt b/c schools have to be creative to find $20M to pay for rosters. Rutgers, Cal, UCLA and UNC combined to lose $139M in the last year. There isn’t billions of $ to pay players. Point blank.

Eva has put herself out there and focused heavily on social media. Showing her personality, along with being drop dead gorgeous, has given her a top 30 following on the WTA Tour. Money goes where attention goes these days. Other top players need to follow suit. I give her credit.
Pavvy G@pavyg

The establishment promotion, attention and hype of the German world ranked 72 Eva Lys is interesting. There are so many more talented WTA players than Lys but don't get a fraction of the same attention. Is Tennis promotion of certain players dependent on looks ahead of talent?

Jay, hasn’t thought through the fact that the $$ to pay players has got to come from Somewhere & somewhere is “olympic” sports existence. Certainly not FB & MBB coaches salaries. Pro Teams attached to Universities with unlimited free agency. Funny no one mentions Grad Rates anymore?

@JMannsTakes @JayBilas has no consideration or clue to the damage he is doing. He just likes that it makes him "cool" with the players in MBB and FB. Its uneducated, uniformed people like Jay that are pushing college athletics to the extinction point.

You certainly do not tell the whole story and a Year of Red Ball will not hurt a player develop. Lets discuss these facts - A foreign player graduates HS and decides to go pro, plays on the ITF level for 3 years and can not make it all a sudden wants to come to America and take a spot on a team to further his or hers failing pro tennis career before they retire to get a real job. None of these older Tennis players will make it on the Professional level but sure they can beat a 17 or 18 yr old without that experience. Moreover our taxes help pay for these schools we should have say in the amount of foreign players on a team. Answer - If a Player thinks they want to turn pro out of HS they have 1 year to decide to go back that is it. Not 3 years of professional tennis where you can practice all day while others have to attend class and can only practice 20 hours a week. It is easy for a full time pro to beat a kid going to classes. Grow Up

@CTennisNation Doesn’t make it anymore right……let’s just put an age limit and let everything else clear (pro is fine)…..no more Olympic/National team exemption…..every year after 19 birthday you lose a year & have to sit a year on front end

The core of this problem is not one of “how good or bad” the US players are, it’s one of age/experience. If you are an 🇺🇸 you have to enroll in college 6 months after graduation or you’re penalized a yr & have to sit out a yr. high level internationals get that waiver as they are “required” by their federation to play pro events in order to compete for their country. Therefore they can enter college at 21 yr old freshman with no penalty

The problem is junior tennis in the US. The Americans good enough to play top 6 for a Power 4 program have top 500 potential. Watering it down with American player quotas only hurts the product. Invest more on ages 6-17 in the US.

I agree, as a golf fan I appreciate your ability to make Johnny Miller like commentary & not insult our intelligence. Making things longer only favors long hitters. Making all the “other” things more difficult tests the completeness of the winners game. It also brings old school courses into play.
