The Indiana Association of Realtors, which spent almost $130,000 lobbying the legislature in 2025 (#36 highest) was HEAVILY pushing for this rental cap ban as national realtor groups were pushing AGAINST a federal ban on large institutional investors buying single-family homes.

Indiana legislators want to make sure you’re NEVER able to OWN a home. They just banned Carmel & Fishers’ rental caps on single-family homes in a major giveaway to large, corporate landlords at YOUR expense Read my latest for @indystar in the comments. The cap only allowed 10% of those homes in a subdivision to be rented out. Now, the wealthy can compete with middle class families to buy as many as they want to rent for a premium.

@FranWalsh73 Left Savannah, GA two years ago to move to the Midwest where the cost of living is a fraction of what it was down there. Much more feasible now. Very much depends on where you are willing to live imo.

Here's the number I keep coming back to: A 2026 SmartAsset study found that across most expensive states - CA, MA, NY, CT - one parent needs to earn $90,000–$97,000+ just to cover basic living expenses for a family of three. That's the floor. Not the comfortable version.

@tombrewsports I’d be willing to bet that a majority of tickets hitting the secondary market will be bought by Hoosier fans. Only making that judgement based off what we saw at Mercedes Benz and the long-starved nature of the fanbase.

@Troy26955248 @coachvint Most of the elite programs of old were senior or redshirt senior heavy. There is a distinct advantage playing at 22-23years old compared to 18. NIL provides incentive to stick around longer. Should see more and more model their roster’s off of Cig’s in the future.

@Waterswatter33 @RobMKendall It is a monster of a weight room, yes. But Noblesville is also a monster of a high school, with nearly 3,500 students 9-12. It’s not like the project is lining the pockets of greedy politicians. It’s providing opportunities for the children of your community to better themselves.

But you were told the police and fire might not show up and the lights could get turned out in schools if you got $300 back on your property taxes…

@RobMKendall Bad optics yes, but need to understand school finance for more context. Operational expenses (electricity) come from a different fund than facilities improvements (new weight room). That would come from the Cap. Proj./Debt Serv. Fund. Money cannot be moved between these funds.

@_CoachBarfield It’s a great question, and the struggle can be seen in the classroom with both boys and girls as well. I’d venture to say it stems from diminishing problem solving skills in our society. Helicopter parenting seems partly to blame but the laziness technology introduces as well.

Serious question for fellow coaches — why do you think today’s generation of teenage boys struggle more with mental toughness? Not bashing, just trying to understand the root. Let’s talk about it.
