Most of the time in the RPO world, your post-snap read will be on the side of the RB due to the body position of the QB at the mesh point…
And defenses know this
But if the QB starts reading defenders away from the RB, you see explosive plays galore

Total offense was at its lowest point since the prehistoric, pre-Air Raid era.
The architect of the nation's top offense has ideas why.

@kurt13warner I was going to say, I’d think the narrow hash marks play a big role. HS most QBs really aren’t threatening outside routes to the wide side of the field often. Sprint out gives them a way to do that. NFL QBs have the arm to make all those throws but also don’t have to throw as far
English

Bc sprint out limits the routes you can run, so defenses have an easier time taking away those routes when u cut field in half! The sprint out becomes catching a defense off guard & beating them with a throw rather than being able to defeat them with a good concept!
There’s a place for them - but it’s limited with the athletes, defensive intelligence, limited route options & space at NFL level!
Talk N Shoot@ChalkLast0712
Why do you not see much sprint out in the NFL? Drop Back Pass is king in the NFL and I love that. Why is that though? @kurt13warner

@kurt13warner @thebigOsystem @Loranza80 Don’t know the Big O stuff but for the Briles stuff it’s just reading the extra run fitter. Makes it simple which is nice when you don’t have much install time
Not sure how well it would work in the NFL though. Not consistently anyway because there’s so much post-snap movement.
English

@thebigOsystem @CoachMikeColee @Loranza80 I don’t fully understand how this is utilized - I would love to bc you make it seem so simple!
English

So what did Triangle determine? Why those 3 guys? Can u give me an example?
Big"O"@thebigOsystem
@kurt13warner 💯 One of the best things we looked at with the QB all off season was based on our Established Def. ID with “What If Scenarios”. 1. Based on numbers & angles, what run play would we want to call. 2. What if I called “…” , What would you do… Etc… 📖 the 🔺 #BigO ✝️✝️✝️

@ChalkLast0712 With a frontside, pre-snap throw. Depending on the play, those are built in on most run plays
English

@thebigOsystem @Loranza80 @kurt13warner Yes, that’s true. I guess I just meant that they don’t teach it the triangle in the Briles system. At least not according to the people I’ve spoken with. It does end up being the same, or very similar though.
English

@CoachMikeColee @Loranza80 @kurt13warner Reading the Triangle becomes a 1 man read.
Pre-Snap, the location of the N$ triggers the throw.

@thebigOsystem @kurt13warner Does the Briles system utilize a similar approach?

San Jose State OC Craig Stutzmann - Manning Drill
- Simulate pass concepts and read coverage
- Feel rhythm of the drop
- Work ball placement and accuracy
- Pre/Post snap reads
- San Jose State = #13 Passing Offense in the country (Run N Shoot)
English

@ChalkLast0712 @bigtimehate I do think you need to have a running game to win consistently. I don’t think it’s the only important thing but when you have a sub-par QB/there’s an injury or there’s bad weather conditions.. those things can make passing more difficult even if you know what you’re doing
English

“Our QB sucks” is generally what that means
