@CoachHerbertDa1 Coach, I created custom reports straight from Hudl. I would take 3-4 games and create playlist of 200 or so clips. Then I pulled my reports from those clips. I got everything from top run/pass plays to what their favorite formation for each down/distance. Plus a lot more.

What’s the best thing out there defensive coordinators that can save time and do great tendency breakdowns??

@GreatCeaser27 I can understand that. I truly never understood the offering of a kid but it not being commitable. The head coach I worked for wouldn’t let us offer a kid unless we would take him. I truly get that side of it.

So that’s why I approach it the way that I do. We have had plenty schools do individual players dirty, and even at the very last minute. But in some cases, it’s not the coach or the program as a whole, so we don’t cut ties like that because individual situations are individual. And like I said, you may need that coach to get another kid out in the future. We had one in this past class, from a G5 school, who recruited the hell out of our best defensive player, told him he was the number one on their DB board, Was in contact daily, brought him up there on a visit, he told the coaches he was ready to commit on the spot. Family spends the money to get up there for the visit, over $1000, he gets told he can’t commit. New position Coach was brought in and didn’t like him. But that recruiter was right back down here looking for 26’s. Wasnt him personally and the program overall still wanted to recruit other guys, so what can you do? But if they are as a program ignoring and blowing off our kids over multiple years, then yeah we ain’t got nothing to talk about. Because honestly, at that point it’s not hurting our guys, you weren’t recruiting our guys any damn way.

Got a legitimate question and would love to honestly hear people’s opinions on it. I’ve been seeing a lot of high school coaches posting that since colleges are getting more kids out of the portal. They aren’t going to send their kids to their camps. Is this how most feel?

@GreatCeaser27 I get if a specific coach did one of your kids dirty but it just seems like the squeeze is not worth the juice as some would say.

Honestly, yes. Certain schools. We have one here in FL that comes by the school, hosts satellite camps and insists on having “Sanford guys” at them, wants our help getting our former guys out of the portal, sends Junior day invites, camp and 7v7 invites; the whole 9. But yet hasn’t recruited a kid from here in at least 6 years. But yet, signed 1 or multiple guys from our and the neighboring county this class. In that case, yeah we are just gonna tell them to keep it moving because it doesn’t hurt our kids; they aren’t recruiting them anyway. Overall though, we just grin and bear it. Even schools that jerk our guys around, you gotta understand that you may need that coach/program in the future to get another kid out. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s a balance.

The reason I’m asking this. Is I get the frustration of college coaches not returning calls, text, or emails and I know it’s not a good look that they are not coming to the schools as much anymore but I’m just trying to see who its hurting the most here, the colleges or players?

@SJamesGriffin @tlamar44 Mr. Griffin, could you kindly explain when any academic department budgets were cut to support the athletic department (football)? Do you know how many players were on the football team? Do you know how many were on full rides? How many students went there because football?

@tlamar44 I'm sympathetic to this view, but my understanding is that for many years, MC has been many thousands of dollars in the red due to athletics—namely football, even cutting budgets of academic departments to try to make up the losses. It's time to decide what's mission-critical.

The clear point is that Mississippi College can afford to have a football program if the administration wanted to. They obviously don’t want to, and in my opinion, this decision is shortsighted. If MC committed its resources to its program it could have a very successful D2 football program that could compete nationally and bring tremendous notoriety to the University and State of Mississippi. I am sad for the young men who will miss out on the benefit of this wonderful Christian education through the discipline of football. If it stands this decision is a loss for the State of Mississippi.

@CoachJordan83 Coach, I really appreciate the kind words. To be honest, you were one of the people I thought of when making the decision to walk away. Each time we talked you always talked about your faith and your family. I always respected that about you.

In my 9 seasons at MC I was blessed to have coached some really great players. They each made an impact on me and I hope I was able to make a small impact on them. During that time I was able to work with some great coaches as well.

@AliciaWhitten4 Thank you Mrs. Alicia. David did great this past fall. He came in and worked hard and earned everything g he got. There is no doubt he will do great things going forward.

@CoachRasMC You will be missed! So thankful we had you recruiting David. Will never regret spending more time with your kids though. They will be grown before you know it. Best wishes for your future endeavors.

I’m finally getting around to posting some pictures from my last game coaching at MC as well as some other pictures. Lord knows I miss this and them but I know I will not regret the time I’m getting with my boys and wife.

A persons word should mean everything to them. Without that, how can anyone trust them? It’s a shame we’ve got away from that. I’ve come to realize the person screaming about loyalty is the one you have to watch the most.

Yall spend to much time and energy on “the portal killing high school recruiting” instead of taking the opportunities they do get! 🗣️ everyone isn’t P5!!! That’s the real issue it’s the ones HELPING the HS kid not the portal…

You have to be a sad individual to do this to a kid. There is someone out there sending kids fake offers from us. I feel bad for this kid but he can know that I’ve called that number from several different numbers trying to get someone to answer. Karma always comes back two fold.

Guys are so focused on camping at big schools they waste their whole recruiting process without being evaluated live from the schools that want them!
