High school football is back! South Carolina begins this week. The rest won’t be far behind. Every team is undefeated. Every player has high hopes. Every coach trusts the work. Hope is everywhere, and every Friday night brings new possibilities. Good luck! Enjoy the journey.

Slow screens punish aggressive defenses - but don’t rush the play. Great slow screens are built on patience. Timing has to be perfect. The defense has to believe it’s winning before you make them wrong. Sell it first, then execute it. #SpreadOffense #ScreenPlays #FootballOffense

If you’re throwing now/fast screens and don’t have a screen-and-go off it, you’re leaving yards on the field. It’s a low cost install taking few practice reps, creates explosive play potential, and protects your base screen. Don’t just call plays, build packages.

Never thought I’d say it, but the tush push has become the base play in a valuable short-yardage package. Once defenses sell out to stop the push, you’ve created opportunities elsewhere. Build answers off the look - not just the push. Packages win games - not just plays.

Only a few weeks remain before the season officially kicks off! ⏱️ Players who seek out extra work rarely regret it. Use this time wisely. When the season starts, you’ll either be glad you prepared - or wish you had. No regrets! 🔥 #NoRegrets #GrindTime #Preseason

The “Underrated Football States” debate is fun. Coaching in many places, one thing stands out: great football isn’t about geography. It’s built by coaches, committed players, supportive admins and communities. Great players are developed in great programs - not by state lines.

@JoshuaG71700146 I loved coaching in Texas. Incredible people, and Friday night lights unlike anywhere else. It also taught me a lesson every coach eventually learns: your career goals have to align with your family’s. Football matters, but family comes first.

I’ve coached high school football games in 10 different states. Rankings can always be debated, but I can tell you first hand that this man’s take is hard to argue with.

@247tobaccoroad I agree NC plays outstanding football. I coached in the highest level of NCISAA, and there was tremendous coaching and talent. Nothing but respect for football in North Carolina.

@374drew Great point. Looking at per capita changes the conversation. Iowa has developed an impressive amount of talent.

@CoachReetz If “underrated” is the metric, the answer is Iowa. Per capita, it produces NFL talent on par with the best of the Sun Belt.

I met @bobwylie14 decades ago. As fellow Rhode Islanders, I learned more about offensive line play from him than anyone. That foundation still shapes my coaching. Young coaches: you never know which mentor or moment will shape your career. Stay humble. Listen. Keep learning.

One thing I’ve learned after years of coaching: great film doesn’t need a label. If you’re truly a D1 player, everyone will see it. Keep working, let your play do the talking, and you’ll find the level where you belong. #Footballlife #FootballX #HighSchoolFootball

One thing I’ve learned: don’t over coach zone. Coach the basics: footwork, aiming point, press the line - then let them play. Up front it’s hats on hats. Behind it, let the RB be a RB. Zone is best when it adjusts to the defense. That adaptability is what makes it dangerous.
