I feel I should be excited about artemis 2, but i get nothing. Pluto flyby, mars rover, hubble, there was always something new. What are we going to learn by humans shot around the moon? It feels like a needless expensive, complicated and goalless. Not pushing buttons 4 me :-/

@mahoganyroad if you listen to the head of nasa, its main goal is to win a very expensive pissing contest with china. 1) to do that once is dumb. Twice is just kinda sad 2) they are gonna loose.

Now that Banksy's identity and face have been revealed and people are shitting on him for looking exactly like what a 50 plus year old graf writer would look like, I wonder what they were expecting? Like some hot ageless ninja? 007 with a spray can?

YouTube just crossed $60B in revenue for 2025. $40B from ads. $20B from subscriptions. Both numbers are growing double digits. The math here tells you everything about how Google actually views its users. 2.7 billion people use YouTube every month. 125 million pay for Premium. That’s 4.6% of the user base generating a third of total revenue. Google’s own executives said on their Q4 earnings call that a Premium subscriber generates “meaningfully higher gross profit” than an ad-supported user. So YouTube’s real optimization function is straightforward: make the ad experience painful enough that the 4.6% who can afford $14/month convert to Premium, while keeping it tolerable enough that the other 95.4% still watch long enough for advertisers to extract value. This is a toll booth that charges both directions. Advertisers pay to get in front of you. You pay to make them go away. And YouTube takes a cut of both transactions on the same piece of content, from the same viewer session, off the same infrastructure. The subscription business alone is now generating ~$20B annually across Premium, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV. That’s bigger than Spotify’s entire revenue. And it grew 25% year over year, adding roughly 2 million new paying subscribers per month through 2024. The advertisers aren’t getting scammed either. YouTube controls 12.4% of total TV viewing time in the US. Shorts pulls 70 billion daily views. The ad side grew 9% to $40B. Both sides of the market are expanding because YouTube is the only platform where the product being sold to advertisers (your attention) is the same product being sold back to you (your attention, uninterrupted). That’s a $60B business built on one insight: attention is the only asset you can sell twice.

So basically, companies pay Youtube to show ads and we pay Youtube to not show ads

I remember traveling to Salt lake City for work. Stayed for a few weeks. Drove around the suburbs. I kept thinking to myself, wow, you guys have a great state. This is a very nice population. High trust. You could all move to SLC. Make it one of the great cities in America. When I asked people about this they said they preferred the suburbs to living in a city.

@CoachTeoUT @NapstaBuu @rishab70113 @alfkkifine You asked an arrogant question, on a public platform, and execpt to not get lashback? You asked "So what's good" and expect people to not say anything? You're basically saying you don't know the difference between what's good and bad, and then expect people to not question it?

Men who don’t rape women are not special. Men who don’t cheat are not special. Men who treat women as equals are not special. Men who cook in their own homes and take care of their children are not special. Men who respect consent are not progressive. Men who don’t make rape jokes are not revolutionary. Men who don’t harass women on the street are not heroes. Men who don’t expect praise for basic decency are not rare gems. Men who don’t control what their partners wear are not enlightened. Men who don’t weaponize money, religion, or culture to dominate women are not extraordinary. Men who listen without interrupting, who don’t mansplain, who don’t feel threatened by women’s ambition are not unicorns. This is baseline. This is what a normal man does.

@CoachTeoUT @NapstaBuu @rishab70113 @alfkkifine Because what I am doing is none of your business and you're only asking to avoid a simple question. Why do you have to ask someone to be a good person? Where you not taught? If not, seek therapy instead of arguing on social media that "not being a bad person" = "good person"

@MattWalshBlog Matt seems pretty confident that AI will never be conscious. But I wonder if Matt has any criteria for what constitutes consciousness other than his own intuitions? If AI were conscious, would he recognize it or does his feelings on the matter supersede all else?

This is dumb. AI can’t ever be actually conscious because it doesn’t have subjective experience. It isn’t like anything to be AI. There is no experience there. Consciousness is the awareness and experience of self. AI has neither, and never will. The real risk (which I’m extremely worried about) is that AI becomes kind of a version of what has been called a “philosophical zombie,” which is something that acts and speaks entirely as though it has consciousness even though it has no genuine inner experience. When this happens with AI, millions of very lonely people will isolate themselves from the world even more, believing that their relationship with AI is a sufficient substitute for human interaction. So the nightmare scenario is a world where the average human has friends, coworkers, and even a spouse, who are all AI, all really nothing inside, not real. I think this probably will happen, and is already in the process of happening. And to me it’s an even greater horror than AI actually becoming conscious.

@CoachTeoUT @NapstaBuu @rishab70113 @alfkkifine ........are you...trying to deflect? I am not the one asking stupid questions. We are talking about why *anyone* should have to ask what it takes to be a good human. Why all these questions under a post about being a decent human being? Do you not know how to be a good person?
